Highlands Motocross Park: Bryan Nicholson (251) and Bradley Mlkolas (73) were In a race all by themselves in the second moto of the 125cc Intermediate class at round six of the STC Pro Circuit Winter Series In Highlands, Texas. made his way around Germany and was setting out after Locke. Mikolas was stalking Germany. Highlands Kawasaki/Mutol/Magic 5-sponsored Mikolas passed Germany on the second lap and was looking toward Nicholson and Locke, where a race was beginning to shape up. Nicholson had closed the gap considerably by the third lap, and it looked like he would catch the JM-backed Locke, but Locke didn't crack under the pressure; instead he charged on and opened up a gap on the Honda rider. Coming around for the white flag, it was all Locke. Nicholson was in second, and Mikolas, who had charged so hard in the early part of the moto, wasn't able to close the gap between himself and the leaders. At the finish, it was Locke, Nicholson, Mikolas, Germany and Campbell rounding out the top five. The tables were quickly turned in the second moto when Locke went over the top of the first corner and had to come back from last. Nicholson took the holeshot, but Mikolas was on a mission. The Kawasaki rider wasted no time with Nicholson, passing him early on the first lap to take over the lead. Nicholson did not give Mikolas any breathing room, though, staying right on the back wheel of Mikolas' KX125. Coming around at the end of the second lap, the gap had not changed; it was still Mikolas out front, with Nicholson within arm's reach. This was anybody's moto - as was the overall. Behind the leaders, Germany had his hands full holding off the advances of Locke. The second moto was not kind to Locke at all. As if the bad start was not enough, he. couldn't seem to break into the top three. Coming around for the white flag, Mikolas and Germany were really close. Mikolas had his 56 APRIL 1 1 • 2001 • IC U IC I e hands full with the Honda rider but did not crack under the pressure. Nicholson made one last charge that brought the riders side by side, but Mikolas had the advantage going into the comer. At the finish, it was Mikolas and Nicholson, with less than one second betwew the two. Germany finished out third, with Locke in fourth. Darren Sinsino rounded out the top five. Jeremiah Herron was the big winner in the 65cc (7 -9) class. Herron took both mota wins aboard his Christian Cross Rider-backed KX65. Kalep Clark took second overall with 2-3 finishes. After finishing fourth in the first mota, J.e. Camacho was on the gas in the second mota, powering his Shorty's Cycle-backed Kawasaki to a second-place finish and third overall. EBR's Mark Trahan finished fourth overall via 3-4 scores. Nicholas Hayman rounded out the top five with an 8-6 finish on his Dadsponsored Kawasaki. Paul Peterson added one more win to his perfect record in the 250cc Beginner class. He is one of only a handful of riders who have yet to lose a mota in the series. John Forbish rode his Circle TRacing-sponsored Kawasaki to second overall after a 32 showing, edging out Chuck Puckett, who took third overall via 2-3 scores. Jody Bull took fourth overall with 4-5 scores, and Charlie Bravo rounded out the top five with a 5-6 score. eN Highlands Mstserasl PaJ1I Highlands. leu. Ilessltl: FsllIUllry Z5.
