Southeast Amateur Regional Championships STORV Bv DAVE HOENIG PHOTO Bv FLAT TRAK FOTOS DAYTONA BEACH, FL, MAR. 8 mateur flat track racers from all over the country flocked to the 2001 Southeast Regional Championship races. There were two events on the Volusia Speedway Park halfmile and two at Daytona's Municipal Stadium short track. With classes for riders from age four to 70 and over 800 entries, there were long da ys at the track. Young Travis Myers made off with the most hardware as he nearly swept the 85cc (7 -11) and 85cc DTX classes. The first day at the Stadium, the Breckenridge, Michigan, youngster finished third in the 85cc (7-11) main, for the only blemish on his week. Travis loaded seven first-place trophies into his van. The 250cc, 505cc and 600cc classes were super competitive, with all three classes fielding a wealth of young, talented riders. Honeybrook, Pennsylvania's Jared Mees socked away a large snare of the gold by taking the 600cc class at the first halfmile and at both short tracks. He also grabbed the 505cc win at the second short track and the 250cc win at the last half-mile. A 28 APRIL 4, 2001 • I: U I: I e David Allen made the trip down from Secor, Illinois, worthwhile by sweeping all four 0-360 Vintage races. Nick Cummings kept up Michigan tradition, coming away with four wins. The Mount Morris rider had half-mile wins in the 250cc, 505cc and the 600cc classes.
