Hoft Storms into
Brookings
By BRAD lETCHER
BROOKINGS. SD, FEB. 24
The Checkered Flag Productions' Extreme
Arenacross Series blew into Brookings, South
Dakota. along with a blizzard that dropped
more than 12 inches of snow during the
evening. Riders from five different states
showed up to strut their stuff in front of a
good-sized crowd (considering a four-by-four
was needed to make it to the new Multiplex).
Norfolk. Nebraska's Brandon Hoff ran away
with the Pro-class win.
The 125cc B was one of the largest classes. Kyle McCutcheon took the heat-one win
over Dustin Peterson. Heat two went to Lee
Feldhaus after the race was red-flagged for
Chad Gruenwald!'s failed attempt to clear the
huge ftnish-Iine double. Gruenwaldt made it
back for the restart and finished in sixth· after
successfully completing the ftnish-line double.
Brandon Kruger was the big loser, as he had
taken the holeshot and moved out to a sizable
lead before the red came out. He did not fare
so well in the restart. getting off the line dead
last and ftnishing ftfth.
In the 125cc B main. McCutcheon nailed
the holeshot. with Feldhaus. Dennis Stout and
Travis Stout banging on his rear tire. A miscue
by Travis on lap two dropped him to seventh.
while Peterson found his way to third, behind
Feldhaus. Ben Truesdale followed Peterson to
fourth after starting in sixth. Tim Mock came
from seventh and passed Truesdale for fourth
on the fourth lap. The top three didn't change
over the final laps. McCutcheon took the
checkers with a nice lead over Feldhaus and
Peterson. Mock held on to fourth. Dennis Stout
rebounded to take ftfth.

The last race of the evening was the Pro
class. Brandon Hoff used the heat race to get
his Kawasaki ready for the main and check
out the track conditions. Hoff ran away and
hid from Philip Richmond and Jesse Peterson.
who ftnished second and third, respectively.
Todd Fletcher. normally a front-runner. was
mired back in ftfth after a terrible start. The
tight track and tough competition kept Fletcher from moving up in the order.
The Pro main started off with a bang as
Hoff jumped to the early lead. ahead of
Fletcher and Richmond. Peterson. Darrik
Delozier and Michael Kock battled for third
throughout the ftrst lap. Delozier dropped to
seventh as Kock moved up behind fourthplaced Peterson. Matt Anson moved into sixth
on the second lap. Hoff began to put distance
on Fletcher. while Richmond was holding off
the hard-charging Peterson. Kock moved into
fourth with a pass on Peterson with four laps
completed. Then Anson passed Peterson on
the next lap. With two laps to go. Kock moved
to third, knocking Richmond off the podium.
Hoff saluted the crowd as he took the win
ahead of Fletcher and Kock. Richmond held
on to fourth. and Anson heel-clicked his way
to ftfth.
