SANDERSON in the lead with Johnson, Yentzer, Aaron Day and Dickson trailing. Carsten went down in the first turn, remounted dead last and made a respectable comeback to lOth by the checkered flag. The top five remained the same and was like a tightly packed freight train through lap six. On lap seven, Yentzer, with the help of the lapped field, caught and made the pass on Johnson to claim second. Johnson dropped to third. Prior to Yentzer's pass on Johnson, Welch was out front with a three-second advantage, but Yimtzer quickly closed the gap in the remaining laps. On lap 10, Yentzer and Welch were side by side in the whoop section. Yentzer was set up for the inside line exiting the section, but he came up short trying to double the last two whoops, allowing Welch to keep the point position. The exact same thing happened between the two leaders on the last lap, but this time there was no mistake by Yentzer and it was a drag race to the checkered flag. It w!is so close, it was a photo finish. The official scoring gave Welch the win, although from this author's perspective, it looked like Yentzer crossed the finish line first. Rounding out the top five were Johnson, Day and Dickson. "I felt pretty good towards the end," Welch said of the close finish. "I knew Jeff was fast enough to catch up, and with the lappers slowing me down, I was scared the last couple of laps. I had a feeling it was going to be close. I knew he [Yentzer] was real close, and with the lappers I knew he'd have an advantage, being behind me, being able to see what I was going to do." "I thought I had him," Yentzer said. "I don't know. It's not my decision. It's hard to get around the lappers, but you just have to do the best you can. [ got second, so I'll have to try harder in the 250cc main." CN Harrisburg nn. The track was designed by Mark Bamett, and it has lots of elevation changes and long lap times. Some 300 riders came out to welcome the Winter Series to the Texas Motoplex facility. The first moto of the Over 40 B class had Ricky Resweber, Robert Porter and Bubba Schultz all going for the lead. Resweber took the lead early and led the class around for its first lap. Hams Racing's Harold Sims and Mike Martin were running fourth and fifth. Dave Cherry came around the first lap in sixth but was looking to move up. He passed Martin on the second lap to take over fifth and put T pressure on Sims for fourth. Back up front, Schultz was all over Porter for second. The Lyle Lovett Motorsports rider couldn't keep Schultz back much longer; on the last lap, Schultz passed him to take the runner-up spot. Cherry was still on the move as well, passing Sims to take fourth place on the last lap. Resweber took the checkers with a comfortable lead over Schultz and Porter. Cherry took fourth, and Sims rounded out the top five. Schultz took the holeshot in the second moto. He had Vernon Patterson and Resweber right on his heels, though. Patterson had scored a 14thplace finish in the first moto when he left on the wrong gate. Resweber quickly passed the HHR/Big Daddy's Racing-sponsored Patterson.and took off after Schultz. It wasn't long before a battle shaped up between the two,
