Concho Enduro Bunn Hot Dogs It to Concho Win Bv DAVID K1..EIN BRONTE, TX, FEB. 18 The Permian Basin Motorcycle Association Dirt Riders, in conjunction with the Ross Creek Trail Riders, hosted the inaugural combined Concho Enduro. Held on the Blackwell Ranch, this race featured sandy berms and a good number of rocky trails and ledges. "The ground conditions were excellent today, and the checks and resets were perfectiy laid out," said the president of the Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit, Georgl! McMahan. Anyone who thinks enduros are an "old man's sport" better not try to take on 16-yearold Michael Bunn in the rocks. In the flrst enduro of the season, Bunn settled for second behind Colorado rider Scott Bright. At round two, however, Bunn, on his David Brown Sports Center/Southland Battery Kawasaki, took the overall win with a score of 3.02, besting his AA competition by two points. For his win, Bunn took home the coveted Top Gun revolving trophy home. This trophy features a huge .357 handgun atop a wooden base inscribed with the names of past winners. It should be noted that the Top Gun trophy is much older than the movie of the same name, not to mention the award's current recipient. When asked about his accomplishment, the still bubbling Bunn could only reply, "Man, that's cool!" Voungsters Blake Brady and Dustin McCrary won the overall Band C classes, respectively. This excellent race left the riders ready for round three, the upcoming Sidewinders combined Enduro and Hare Scrambles. Results O/A..M: Michael Bunn (Kaw). O/A B 4-~ Blake Brady (Yam).
