Motorama Race and Speed Show Short Track Trail-Way Speedway Haas Hammers Motorama ST Bv LEN BREECH HARRISBURG, PA, FEB. 16 im Haas put the J&L Racing/ Yamaha of Camp Hill-sponsored Yamaha into the winner's circle twice in the Eastern Harley-Davidson Dealers Association-sponsored shorttrack portion of the 23rd annual Motorama Indoor Races and Speed Show. Haas easily won the Over 30 race and held off a determined bid by last year's 500cc class winner, Georgie Price, to win the class, though Price added to his II-year Motorama win streak by taking the 250cc Pro fInal. Throughout the years, the surface of the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Arena has been known to rut up, but during this year's heats it rutted up worse than usual. By the time the finals rolled around, it had been packed down and was starting to get bad toward the end of the evening. In the Over 30 final, Haas grabbed the lead from Richard Eisinger, but the start was red-flagged for a downed rider, so on the restart he did it again, this time with Todd Stith and Mike Klopp leading the mostly processional final to the flag. The 500cc A race was closer, with Georgie Price staying right behind Haas throughout the final - even off the restart for Shawn Baer, who hit a rut hard in the third turn while running third. Off the single-file restart, Bill Reynolds, Dallas Baer and Scott Slade followed the disappearing front duo. Price stayed close and on the fInal lap he tried to take the lead on J Forster Livestock Pavilion: Ryan Leach was a two-class winner at round eight of the CMC sanctioned Winter Series In Salem, Oregon, posting 250cc and Open Pro-class victories. ferstsr UvatscIl PaviUen S81", ....... laalts: FsIInwy 23-24, za81 IbM 8 all DJ Friday P/W (4-6): J. Jared Mees had a fairly easy time winning the 250cc A class. Mees muscled his way into the lead by the third turn on the opening lap of the fInal, ahead of Corey Hormes, Dillon Cava and Brody Miller. Mees put his beautifully finished Moroney's HD/Fast Hog.com/Michael's H-Dsponsored Honda a few lengths per lap ahead of the field. Cava battled with Hormes for second, taking the spot off the second turn just past halfway. Cava used the same machine in the 600cc A contest; apparently someone protested his running an under-250cc machine with the 600s. Cava put it in front right away and held off the 600s. Mees, Haas, Brody Miller and Ace Phillips followed. Phillips slipped past Miller and then Haas by halfway. Phillips fInally trying an outside-line pass off the fInal turn, just edging Mees by inches at the line. Cava won but was disqualifIed for using a 250, so the win went to Phillips. Price put his Metro Racing.com/ Deptford Honda/Pop Sweeten-sponsored Honda into the lead and left the rest of the 250cc Pro riders fIght for second. Roy Miller led a tightly bunched group comprised of Raun Wood, Ken Yoder and Mike Varnes. Wood got by Miller on the fourth lap but misjudged a rut and fell in the fourth turn two laps later. Miller retook the lead, but after a sluggish 40+ OIT AM.: 1. Jim Harris (Yam); 2. Gnmt Brown (Hon); 3. Curtis Pe.ulson (Kaw); 4. Bill FllrTell (Hus); 5. Michael Kivett (KTM). 40+ OIT MNY: 1.
