Renfrow had finished about 17 seconds behind Sands, and just over a second in front of the battling Filice and DiSalvo. The bumping had occurred when DiSalvo came off the top line on the banking and closed in on Filice off of NASCAR Four. Filice was pushed down the banking, then went back up to tag DiSalvo, all the while the pair losing ground on Renfrow. The run to the flag was a photo finish with Filice taking fourth by .002 of a second. The finish was so close that the transponders, which are mounted on the tailpieces, had the order reversed. A review of the finish-line camera confirmed Filice's fourth. Filice very nearly didn't make it to the finish. Just before the halfway mark, he was going through turn one when a corner worker ran onto the track to pick up a piece of debris, a small piece of windscreen, Filice said. She ran almost directly into his path, causing him to straighten up his Corbin Yamaha to avoid disaster. "At that speed, we would both have been killed,· Filice said. Renfrow was just behind Filice when it happened. "Jimmy did a great job,· he said. "He picked it up. It happened so fast. I thought when he picked it up, 'What the heck is he doing?' And then I saw the flash of white and he got around her, and I really hoped he stayed on the racetrack. That stuff happens so fast, you can't even think.· .CN Daytona IntBm8tionll SpoedwlY Olytonl Beach, Floridl Results: Mlrch 11, ZOOl [Round 1 of 11) I\IBNA 250 GRAND PRIX: I. Rich Oliver (Vam); 2.
