Jerry Wood had another shot at a
win in the Expert Ughtweight Superbike race, but he was outgunned. Riding his Ducati Supermono in a field of
bigger bikes, Wood made it as far forw8rd 8S second while Donald Unger
sped aW8Y from the field on his
Ducati 750.
Wood was involved in a duel with
Suzuki SV-650-mounted Steve Keener, the two evenly matched and taking their fight to the stripe, where
Keener prevailed.
Unger took the win by 2.140 seconds and credited his win to Fast by
Ferracci's Eraldo Ferracci, who built
his Ducati.
The win was Unger's second of the
weekend. The first had come in Friday's Middleweight Sportsman race.
He and Matt Blashfield were waging
their own private battle at the head of
the 25-rider field when they tangled
entering the International Horseshoe
on the final lap.
Unger was out front and turned in
to the right hand corner, coming
across Blashfield's front wheel.
Blashfield went down and Unger went
on to victory.
Aprilia -mounted Dan Fischer
inherited the secure second, with
Page Gathings emerging from a fourrider battle to take third.
