Round 2: Georgia Dome
"This is pretty much my hometown
race, and I'm glad to win out here,"
Ramsey said. "I've been working so
hard, and I'm happy that it's paying
off. Things just didn't go my way last
year, and you need to make them go
your way. It feels real good!"
KTM Red Bull's Brock Sellards
returned to a familiar spot on the
podium, finishing second. The Ohio
native rode well all night, taking third
in the first heat and then avoiding any
mistakes in the final to take the runner-up position. After the race, Sellards was in a much better mood than
he was two weeks earlier.
"I'm now two points out of second,
so that's a big change from the seventh that I started out with," Sellards
said in reference to his finish at the
Indy opener. "I'm not extremely
happy because I got smoked by that
250 [Ramsey's four-stoke], but my
bike ran great, too."

ATLANTA, GA,FEB. 24
9 t had been quite a while since
6 Yamaha· of Troy's Nathan Ramsey
had won a 125cc Supercross race since the '99 125cc East-West
Shootout in Las Vegas, to be exact,
or nearly two years ago. But riding
his John Bundy-tuned YZ250F fourstoke, Ramsey took the measure of
the 125cc class at Atlanta.
Ramsey walked away from the
class both times out on the track,
taking the holeshot and winning both
his heat race and the final, hands
down. It was the seventh career
125cc Supercross win for the Californian (who was raised in nearby
Hixson, Tennessee). Ramsey has
adapted well to his new ride and
looks incredibly comfortable and confident aboard it, and thanks in part to
a little mistake by his nemesis Travis
Pastrana, Ramsey also takes command of the points chase. Things are
looking good for the 1999 125cc
Western Regional Supercross Champion.
