Prairie Capitol Convention Center Metcalf Rounds Up Four By BRoc MiKEL SPRINGFlELO, IL, FEB. 2·3 This is the house that Nick built. The fans in attendance at round 10 of the Sf)( Regional Arenacross Series saw one of the most dominating rides ever by a Pro rider. American SuzukifThor/SpyfTurfs Up/Bill's Pipes-spon· sored rider Nick Metcalf dominated the com· petition, winning every race he ran. In Friday's 125cc Pro main, Metcalf took the holeshot, with GP Motorsports/World Power Sports/SoCal DeCal/Renthal rider Brandon Bartz hot on his tail. Bell/EVS/ Bridgestone/Scott/Ceet rider Brian Stone ran third. At the halfway point, Bartz was still putting the pressure on Metcalf. In the later laps, lappers began to become a factor, giving Metcalf some room to breathe. On the last lap, Metcalf got behind a lapper who would not move over. Metcalf tried to get by but couldn't, and Bartz came right up on his rear fender. Bartz was on the inside, the lappeT was in the middJe, lind Metcalf was on the outside. Metcalf got the most drive and took the win. Bartz finished second, with Stone third. In the Dash For Cash, Metcalf went wire to wire for the win and the big money. In the 250cc main, Metcaif would not make the mistake of allowing anyone close enough to challenge him; he took the holeshot and kept his head down, winning with a comfort zone between himself and second-placed rider Stone. Bartz finished third. In Saturday's 125cc main, Metcalf picked up where he left off on Friday, putting his Suzuki out front and putting in another gre8t ride for the win. The racing went on behind him. The Edge/Alpinestars/Troy Lee Designs/NGK rider Brian Mason put in his strongest ride of the weekend. taking second. Bartz looked to have third in the bag, but no one was watching Stone, who sneaked up on Bartz and took third place. In Saturday's Dash For Cash, Metcalf again took the win for some fat cash. In Saturday's 250cc main, Metcalf again put himself out front and checked out. Dreyer/Fox/Pro Circuit/Bridgestone rider Jeff Baker was second. Stone was running third, with Bartz charging and putting on the pressure. Bartz went down, leaving Stone without the heat. Stone then moved past Baker and into second but could not reel in Metcalf, who took his last and final race of the weekend. Stone was second and Baker was third. Local madman C.J. Lowder won both nights of the Extreme Jump Off contest. lowder put on quite a show with his final jump, which put him over the bars and in the hospi tal. M F_ 50 (7-8): 1. Oonnon Auddtl!; 2.
