I ,, Testing At Laguna Seca • "'- -" - road ------ -----_-...._- --- race - (Above) Doug Chandler was back to his old self during the Laguna Seca test, feeling comfortable, confident and fast. (Below) Mat Mladln was also fast, but he says he still Isn't comfortable with the feeling he's getting from the front end of the new Suzuki GSX-R750. By HENNY RAY ABRAMS MONTEREY, CA, JAN. 22·25 inters in Northern California are unpredictable at best, and this one is no different. Over the course of the four-day test on the Monterey Peninsula, the weather was mostly cold and windy, with rain on two of the four days. On Monday the track was wet and the riders didn't get going until nearly lunchtime. What it meant was that the amount of testing done was negligible, at best. "As far as we're concerned, it was a total write-off. The weather wasn't condudve to testing," Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin said when the test ended, in the rain, on Thursday afternoon. "We didn't really get much done. It was a pretty crappy day. Essentially, we were finished by about three. It got too windy and too cold to achieve anything. We were here to test a new bike and do some good solid testing and weather wasn't good for stable results." 20 FEBRAURY 7, 2001 • 0: U 0: I • n _ vv s
