I love close racing but you must realize that there is a difference in hard, close racing and riding "dirty." Letter writer John Purser (Voices, Issue #2, January 17) m'lde a comment about Fast Freddie's pass of Kenny Roberts for the 500cc World Championship, but let's not forget Kurtis Roberts' pass of Eric Bostrom for the 600cc Championship this past year. They looked kinda the same to me. It just depends who you pull for. Both where brave and great moves to achieve dreams. Rob Vaughan Huntsville, 7X (a Friday at that), I, for one, certainly don't feel unlucky about anything, having created two businesses out of nothing. As I read further on in the letter, it got even more ridiculous: "There is a reason why hotels don't have a 13th floor." (Yes because there are people like you who have their heads in the sand - and also the 14th f10m is really the 13th floor). His other statement of: "Why tempt fate, especially while in the world's most dangerous sport?" (Most dangerous? Supercross? Ever heard of something called road racing? You know - 180 mph?) way from the San Bernardino Orange Show on November 18. You had results from Division 1 and Division 2, which is okay. Then on the next page, you had the results for November 25 and you showed Division 2B, in which I should have been. I placed either fourth or fifth. My name is Kerry Conner and I'm #135. I'm riding an old Weslake I bought through Steve Lucero. Gimme a break. I'm 41-years-old and about 35 pounds overweight. I don't see a lot of mains. the position of Cycle News. Inc. However, as a sponsor of his, I hope to have him back there in 2002. Letter writer Todd Bannon asked in the same issue if anyone remembered the Superbikers. Well, yes, I do, and Todd can come see the latest version of that by attending a SuperTT event this year. We race mainly in Southern California with forays into Portland and Donner Ski Ranch, and the racing is not only exciting and competitive, it's a whole load of fun too. I speak from experience, as I can't wait to defend my Lightweight title this coming season. The Superbikers are alive and well and living in California! Sigh To the special rider who stayed past the contracted time of 8 p.m. at the Chaparral autograph signing, we the parents and children who waited in line for three Thirty years ago this month, I picked up my weekly copy of Cycle News at Norm Reeves motorcycles in Anaheim, Califomia. On the cover was a road racer in turn five at Willow and half hours want to say, "Thank you." You know who job. CA Sign More you are. To all the riders who couldn't wait to leave at 8 _ how selfish are you? What's an extra hour or two out of your busy schedule that you couldn't wait for that last child? Think back to when you were eight or 10 years old _ remember how excited you got when you got an autograph from a famous person. If it weren't for the fans and all the money us parents spend on all the race toys, video games, Supercross and motocross tickets, you would be out of a job - a high-paying Published letters do Springs. The bike had a Van Tech frame, a 125cc Yamaha twin with a "GYT" kit, baby Ceriani forks, a Honda CB92 front brake, a Grizzly mechanical rear disc brake, and a home-built fiberglass seat and tank. I know this because I had built and raced it. By the time I realized I was on the cover of Cycle News, the parts man had disappeared into the back of the shop. The store was empty. There was no one to tell. With reference to the Voices column (Issue #3, January 24), I am stunned that Michael Rigdon would think and write such drivel (the Unlucky 13 letter) and that Cycle News would print it. As one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans born on the 13th If it weren't for letter writers expressing their opinions with "such drivel," there would be no need for a Letters To The Editor section... Where is Buddy Antunez's picture? You have got to be kidding me not to have him prominently featured in the calendar. He won the Arenacross Championship not only four years in a row, but he's having quite a bit of success again this year. It blows me away that he's not in this year's calendar. I go to a few of these events each year and really enjoy the racing and the people who are involved. Buddy takes plenty of time out for the fans and is a great ambassador for the two-wheeled world. I am not going to display my calendar this year because of your oversight. Shame on you. You owe Mr. Antunez an apology. 1971 riding weight.
