came out, and Mikolas couldn't close the gap.
Conner took the checkers, with Gaddis right
there in second. The real battle was for third;
Kawasaki riders Mikolas and Locke went all
the way to the finish, with Locke getting the
final spot on the podium. Germany took
home fifth.
Gaddis, on his ESE Track Builders/Troy
Lee Designs-backed Honda, snagged the
holeshot in the second moto, with Conner a
close second. Conner made his move in the
second comer and once again began to set
the pace. All signs were pointing to a sleeper
moto until Conner crashed while exiling the
woods; one mistake was all it took for Gaddis,
Locke and Germany to get by him. Mikolas
was once again charging from back in the
field, but Conner was up and running before
he came by. Gaddis now had the point, and
Conner was fighting to make it around Germany and Locke. He passed Germany partway through the second lap and passed Locke
just before the end of the second lap. Mikolas
charged up to Germany's back fender, and he
passed Germany on the third lap. When the
white flag came out, Gaddis had a six-second
lead on Conner. Nothing was certain in this
moto, though. Just when it seemed like Gaddis had the moto in the bag, he tangled with a
slower rider and went down. This was the
break Conner needed to get back by Gaddis.
Locke followed, and Gaddis remounted in
third. Conner took the win, followed by Locke
and a disappointed Gaddis. Mikolas once
again found himself just outside the top three,
and Germany was fifth.
One of the most exciting classes of the day
was the new Pee Wee Shaft class, designed
with Beginner racers in mind. The race was a
two-lap, one·moto feature. Though everyone
gets atrophy, there was still some good
actionl Aaron McGowen and Tyler Reed
signed up for the event's debut. The two gave
the fans a great race, with McGowen taking
the win.
out onto the course. After a dismal start, Taylor was rampaging toward the front. As they
crested the double hills, Jensen fiad claimed
the point and Taylor had fought his way aU the
way to second. It took a full lap, but Taylor
blasted into the lead before the finish-line
tabletop. Taylor immediately broke away and
went on to tak~ a convincing first-moto win,
ahead of Jensen, Pro rider Danny Cooper, and
Theobald.
Kawasaki-mounted Cooper ambushed
everyone in the second half, leading Jensen
and Romans. Jensen quickly took over the
lead, while Tanner and Taylor moved up to
chBllenge. Taylor made a fast downhill pass
for second and moved up to Jensen's rear
knobbies. Jensen wouldn't!et him by, and the
two front-runners got into a street brawl that
lasted the rest of the race. Jensen countered
all of Taylor's moves to just edge him at the
checkers, thereby securing the overall 125cc
Intermediate crown, ahead of Tyler Mortensen
and Theobald.
Coupled with his domination of the Supermini class, the 125cc Intermediate title
capped off a pretty successful day for Jensen.
Taylor's strong rides secured him the 125cc
Pro win, ahead of Tanner and Cooper.
