One of the largest classes of the day was the Pee Wee (4-6) Shaft class. Jeffrey Mulder grabbed the lead, followed by Skyler Humphrey, Serratia Gonzalez, Hunter Sarzier and Tyler Campbell. Mulder and Humphrey stretched out their lead over the rest of the pack. Hunter Carr, Jeremy Gavette and Ian Holm moved into the fourth, fifth and sixth spots. On the third lap, Gavette made the pass to fourth, dropping Carr to fifth. Then Holm passed Carr, who retook the position, only to lose it again through the whoops to Holm. On the last lap, Humphrey capitalized on a mistake by Mulder and took the lead and the win. Behind him, the order remained the same. The second moto was all Mulder's, from start to finish. Humphrey, Gonzalez, Zyle Mitchell and Jake Raikes were behind. First-moto winner Humphrey fell as he exited the first turn. Humphrey was well back in the pack when he restarted. On lap two, Raikes, Gavette and Holm were third, fourth and fifth. Gavette passed Raikes for third going into the first turn. On lap three, Colton Carr leaped into fourth place. Mulder and Gonzalez had stretched out their lead. Humphrey had worked his way up to eighth place, and he knew the overall was on the line; the overall win would go to whoever won the second moto. With one lap remaining, the fight for the lead was between Mulder and Gonzalez. Humphrey had worked up to fourth place. Mulder pulled out the win and the overall with a 2-1 tally. Second across the line was Gonzalez, taking third overall with a 3-2 score. Humphrey made a last-lap pass for third, securing second overall with 1-3 score. Rorida Winter Am Series Round 1: 6atorback Cycle Park Hadsell Melts Deep Freeze Bv CRAIG JOHNSON AND ANGELA HARDEN GAINESVILLE, FL, DEC. 30-'31 reezing temperatures hi~ Florida for the first round of the Winter Am Series, presented by Unlimited Sports. The sky was sunny, but the wind chill was in the 30s. Riders came from 29 states and from as far away as New Mexico, Washington State and New Hampshire, as well as Canada and Switzerland. Entries almost topped the 600 mark. The rider who heated up the track the most was Beach Sports Yamaha's Tyson Hadsell. Out of four classes, F Hadsell won six motos and two overalls, winning at least one moto in each c1ass_ Hadsell absconded with the holeshot in the first 250/500cc A moto, followed by Chase Reed, Paul Perebijnos and John Kitsch. Hadsell slowly pulled away, with Reed, Kitsch, Perebijnos and Kevin Brodsky giving chase. Reed tried to keep up with Hadsell as the two pulled away. At halfway, Kitsch dropped out and did not finish the moto. This moved Perebijnos back into third, followed by Brodsky and Michael Steveson. Steveson closed on Brodsky and made his pass before the elevator.
