Though Checa had claimed a second-place finish in his first race of the night, he had wilted as the competition got stronger. "I am having a lot of trouble in the dirt," Checa laughed. "I like the road racing, although that is very tight much different from what I am used to. It's been fun, but I don't think I have any chance of winning tonight." Boris Chambon won the Supermotard final ahead of Fabrice Guyot and Stephane Blot. For the defending Guidon champion, it was not the competition that would prepare him for Bolley, Bayle and his brother Stephane. "I have a great starting position," Chambon said. "Maybe even better than Belley. It will be interesting; I am confident." The 2000 Guidon d'Or final would be decided over three three-lap dashes, then a 14-lap final. For several of the major names, it turned into a nightmare. Bolley gated first in the opening dash, leading Boris Chambon and Bayle into the first turn. Bayle looked a little lost in the pack, and he struggled to come to terms with the terrible starting position. By turn three, though, it was all over for the multiple MX champion, as he slid out, taking Stephane Chambon with him. Bayle and Chambon were out of the final. "I just got caught on a slippery part of the track and fell," Bayle said. "It's disappointing for sure; I wanted to win here." As Bayle was being treated for some minor injuries, Bolley rode off with the first three-lap dash. For Bolley, there would be more to come, as he blitzed to wins in the second and third races, then took the 14-lap final after Peterhansel also crashed out while trying to sneak under Bolley's red rocket. "I wanted to get a better position," Peterhansel said. "I maybe pushed a little too hard and hit Bolley's back wheel. Once I was on the ground, I knew I was out of contention for the final race. It's such a small track, and with only three laps to get back into contention it was impossible." Bolley was just plain awesome. He was not once led into the first corner on the treacherous Bercy speed-bowl, and it was truly the performance of a great rider, as he crossed the finish line ahead of 1999 Guidon d'Or champion Boris Chambon and French ISDE representative David Fretigne.
