The key external differences are the gold nitridecoated forks, and the new six-piston calipers. o say that I was a bit apprehensive about riding on the challenging Road Atlanta track in December would be an understatement. After all, it had snowed there just a few weeks prior to our early-winter visit. Just as the weather channel had promised, it was cold - and it made the task at hand even more daunting. Although I've put in my fair share of time at Road Atlanta, I'd never ridden there on anything over 600cc - and never without race tires. Now I was there to ride what was arguably the most eagerly anticipated sportbike of the 2001 model year - the Suzuki GSX-R1000. To get straight to the point - the GSX-R1000 is fast, very fast.
