Behind th e lead d u o, Suzuki rider j a so n "in: Sheets battled Ck-mounted Travis Ward. Sheets p revailed in the first moto b ut \OVa I'd got his revenge in the second, securing third overall, followed by Sheets and CR rider Darrell Pitsinger. In 125ccC action, the CR-moun ted Tim Kelly dominated both motes. Kelly took the holeshot in the first moto and led to the en d , ex tending his lead every lap. In the second moto, YZ pilot Nicholas Bukky nabbed an awesome ho leshot an d was able to put a little dis tance between him sel f and seco nd- place sta rter john Wisenbarger, also on a YZI25. A full field of 245 en tries raced under beautiful, sunny Ca lifornia skies on a we ll ·groomed , vi n tage·bike· friendly race track. A nu mbe r of Na tiona l-class championships we re won on the day . suffered from a poor start and general bad luck and ended up 12th ove rall. Dave janie< won both the Premier 500cc and the Open Interm ediate titles, and j.T. Southe rn Bill Wa lls post ed a consis ten t 4-3 showing tra veled from Ten nessee to win the Sportsman SOOcc Novice crown. Sportsman 125cc Novice ji m Atkins a nd Pre m ie r Open Expe rt Danny Davis bo th ad ded enough points to wi n their "I love racing 125ee bikes," Line sai d . In the first moto, Gibson was ab le to match Hartshorn's every move a s the two freighttrained around the circuit, with Gibson holding on to the finish . In the 125cc mai n, WiIIoh absconded with the holeshot, with Payne, Harold Hageman, Pestana, Nat han Wood s, jerrad Fisher and the rest of the field in pu rs uit.
