Nicholsons-backed Jimm y Wilson, from Willis, Mich igan, scored the 12Scc main even t win on his Yama ha, while a more familiar face smi led from the top step of the 2S0cc podiu m - that of defen ding Arenacross Champion Buddy Antunez. Go nzalez was fra ntically moving up thro ugh the pack when he o ve rcooked it in th e w hoops a nd landed in the dirt, d ropping him ou t of contention. Simultaneous ly, Willoh bit the d ust, handing the lead to Katin. Sud denly find ing himself ru nni ng in second place, Wilson realized he certainly had a chance for the win and kicked it into high gear . He eventually bullied his way aro und Katin, and the combination of adrena line and spee d carried him to the win. Meanwhile , Wa llace h ad th e sam e idea as Wilson. Wallace, too, foun d him self sitting pretty for a good finish and started pecking away on Katin for second place. Wallace started jump ing the huge Buddy Antunez (1) came away with a win during the opening night of racing at the Centrum Coliseum in Massachusetts. He topped the 250cc clas s. 2 Pedro Gonza lez swept Satu rday nigh t's rac ing action. 3 Jimmy Wils on made a name for himself by winning the 125cc main on Friday night. triple before the finish line and eventually got arou nd Kalin and hung on for second place. Kalin grabbed third, ahead of An tu nez, Tra vis Hod ge s, Da ve Krat z, Chad Pederson and Brad Woolsey. Wilson was ecstatic after winning his first arenacross main event. "You kn ow, I knew I was goi ng to. win th is race," Wil so n sai d . "I w as pumped whe n I was keeping pace wit h Kalin and when I saw Willoh go do wn, I knew I could pass Mike. I pu t in 16 perfect laps and that's what it takes to win these things . I am so happy." "I d idn 't expect this, but I' ll take it," runner-up Wallace said . "I love it. We put on some great moves , and I hope the crowd d ug it. Boy, I wish I had pu t a cou ple of moves on sooner: I would've loved to h av e won this thing . I' m h a ppy thoug h."
