Se nn shadowed Borders the entire moto bu t couldn't dra w close e no ug h to challenge for th e lead. Cole placed th ird . Borde rs and Senn led the way in the Sl. 'COnd moto. The pa ir rode away from the fietd and finished one..two . Cole took another solid third. Jon Sa nde rs ed ged C hris Bail ey for th e holesho t in the firs t 125cc Mo ney heat. C la y Downing chased down Bailey and di ved past for second at the end of the long back straightawoy. Sanders led the all-Yama ha parade to the finish . Dow ning took seco nd ove r Bailey . Sand ers was out fron t fro m sta rt to finish in the second mota . Bailey trailed Downing for severallaps before pulling off a pas s late in the race. jackie Co ok grabbed the lead in the fir st 125cc C moto, wi th jamc'S Stephens close behind. Stephens overtook Cook's Yamaha at t he halfway point for the win . Cook barely held off Cole Boutwell to the flag for secon d . Cook was quickest off the line aga in in the second h e at , wit h St ephe n s ri gh t b e hin d . Stephens had his Yamaha singing and applied tremend ous pressu re to th e leader for th e las t three laps . Cook hung tough this time and took the moto and overa ll win . Results 125 M:-N: 1. For three laps, it w as a three-way wa r ove r the ru nn er-up spot between lloyd, Ca rlson a nd Cunni ng ham. With two laps to go, Cunningha m ma de the big mo ve, passing both Carlso n a nd lloyd in one lap to salvage second place, a lon g wa y back from Tro n, who was on cruise control for mos t of the moto. Th e longtime A[v1A National competi tor rode his Yama ha to a pair of wins in the 12Scc Money class . Palmer absconded with the holeshot in the fir st mot o, follow ed cl osel y by jon Sa nd e rs . Brent Carroll ran third . Sanders wa s a ble to make up time thro ugh the rh ythm sect io n, but nobody cou ld match Palmer's s peed corning' out of the turns. Palmer to ok a commanding win ov er the Yama has of Sanders and Ca rroll. Palmer led th e field a ga in in moto two. Sa nders se t out after th e leader w hile Carroll an d Chris Baile y battled over third . Sanders could n' t mak e a dent in Palmer's lead, an d the pair finished o ne -tw o a gain. Carroll ta lli ed another third after Bailey went down. Ricky Steverson grabbL'd from his spill and took second from Collins by the finish. CaBins ran ou t front in mota m 'o, followed by Cha n Senn. Down ing ga ted fourth and qu ickly went to wor k on the front ·runners. He pa ssed Se nn on the second la p and was o u t fro nt for good by th e h a lfwa y p o in t. Ste ve rson to ok ano ther second , ahea d of Senn . In 125cc C racing, jackie Cook and james Stl!phens continu ed their ba ttle from the pr evious week 's race. Cook stole the holesha t in the firs t m ot o , followed bv Col e Bo utw ell a n d Steph en s. These three ricte'ii br ok e awa y from the pock ea rly. It took Stephens half the race to get around Boutwell. This gaw Cook the cushion he needed to take the checkers flrst. Cook was fastest off the line again in the second heat , with Stephens and Steve Smit h in tow . Stephens had a clear track between himself and Cook, bu t he couldn 't find a way a round .
