The lack of water was still an issue, bu t promoter Trey Clingfost u tilized a nearby spring- fed creek and ma naged to keep th e t ra ck damp eno ugh to ru n the event thr oughou t a long day of racing. Ma tthew Lemoine collec ted a fourmo ta sweep in the 60cc (I0 -11) and 60cc Open classes. Jonathan Kerr was on fire in th e 80cc 02-13) an d 80cc Ope n minibike catego ries, finishi ng wit h four of four mota wins as well. Vet racer Greg Lewis, 125 /25Occ Pro rider Chase Reed and Vet/Expert Michael Clement all won both of their entered classes; Reed took bot h the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes, Lewis won in the Over 25 and Over 30 Intermediate categories, and Clement clea ned u p in the Over 30 Expert and Over 35 classes. Matthew Lemoine cla imed his first win in mota one of the 60cc (10-11) contest wit h a come-from-behin d rid e. Kyle Cunningham grabbed the holeshot but was passed by Josh Eure by the end of the first lap. Lemoine gated third , followed by Tyler Begue and Jake Lowry. Lemo ine chased Cunningham before he was ab le to move into second, and then he im med iately bega n to tear afte r Eu re, taking over the lead spot by the whiteflag lap and then hold ing it throughou t the final lap for the win. Cody Stark fini shed with a 2-2 ta ll y for seco nd, while Eu re used a 4-3 sco re for thi rd, leaving Cunningham and Lowry to finish out the top five spots. Wha t wi th th e Pro Challenge ju st around the corner, the Pro events have fe a tu re d a n increasing numbe r of entrants. Joining the lineup on this particu lar weekend were Plano Ho nd a' s Travis Ell iott, N orth Texas Yama ha's Ma rk Thompson, New Mexico's Iva n Tedesco, Andy Beebe of Louisiana, an d Hou ston 's Thomas Bord elon . Na than Hale go t the best start, lead ing the way throu gh the first two turns. Elliott ga ted second and took the lead from Hale o n th e fir st lap , bu t H al e hung on to the nu mber-tw o spo t all the wa y to the finis h. Honda of Hou ston's Der ek Gerdes ga ted thi rd , followed by Centra l Ya maha /LCS-backe d Chase Reed and NCY / Pro Circuit's Tedesco. It too k Reed u n til th e th ird l a p to get aro und Gerd es, passing him thro ugh the whoops at the top of lap fou r, bu t Reed was unable to catch the leaders. Hale again go t the best start in the se cond mota, t his time h ou n d ed by Reed, who passed him for the lead on the first lap . NTY's Th omps on chased Hale in third, followed by Ted esco, Dwain Carter, Elliott, Kyle Williams and Bryan Piccirelli . Tedesco passed thompson after the third jump as they head ed up into the wooded switchbacks, taking over third . Elliott worked on Carter for fifth, bu t he was unable to make his pass u ntil the next lap . For two grueling lap s, Elliott hunted t h e Yamaha-mount ed Thompson, passing him after the w hite flag ca me au t to fin ish fo u r th a t t he checkered flag . Tedesco never gave up on Ha le, pressuring him for the numbertwo slot, but Hale held his ground and finished seco nd . Reed took the bulk of the purse in the 250cc Pro even t, win ning both motes. Gerdes chased his fellow rookie Reed to th e finish in second in mo ta one, follo wed by Thom pso n, Carter and Piccirelli. Hale, however, ass umed the ru nner-u p spot in mot a two, followed by Tho m pso n in th ird a nd Gerdes in fourth. Rocky Fleming a nd Jeremy Durrett have both been sh ow ing improvement since movin g up in to the Intermedia te r anks a fte r Lo retta Ly n n's . Flem in g absco nd ed w it h the holesh ot in the first 125cc Intermediate mota , with Durrett in second, but Durret t powered ou t of the first turn to take the lead , putting Flem ing b a ck a spot. Sc heel passed Flem ing first, wit h Istre in his wake, pushi ng Flem ing back to fo ur t h, in fr ont of Team Green's James Marshall. Marshall fell o u t, opening the door fo r Danny Kelsey to take fourth, followed by Chad Cook. Cook chased after Ke ls ey , using an overaggr essive move coming ou t of the wooded section to T-bone Kels ey in a corner, causing Kelsey to go down. Cook fini s hed four th , followe d b y Ve rnon McKiddie, Jason Gad d is and Fleming. Durrett snatched the holeshot in the second mota, with Istre rig ht behind , but when Du rrett went over the berm in the first downhill section, he lost position s to Istre, Scheel, Marshall and fleming. Scheel bus ted a move on Istre for the lead , which he held to the finis h. In the meantime, Durrett recovered a nd pursu ed th e lea d er s, get tin g a round Fleming on lap thr ee after Marshall once aga in dropped back. Durrett held third to the finish, w ith Flem in g fou rth a nd Gaddis fifth. Scheel claimed the overall wi n by wa y of his 2-1 punch. Durrett 's 1-3 finish was good fo r se con d . Istre claime d third with his 3-2 cou nt, w hile fou rth went ' to Fleming's 7-4 finish and fifth to Gad dis, who had a 6-5 tally. In the 125cc Open even t, Durrett battled hard to take the overa ll wi n by wa y of a 4-1 cou n t to Sha ne Dough ty' s 3-4, w hich was good for second .
