When the gate fell for the one-shot
20-minute 125cc Pro moto, Sleet er led
the pack out of the tight right-hand first
tum, followed by Dusty Walters, Evans
and Tyson Taylor. Within a lap , Evans
was con trolling the pace out front.
Evans put a couple of seconds on
Sleeter, bu t Sleete r wasn't about to let
him get away, and by the eight h lap of
what would eve ntually be a 15-lap race,
Sleeter ha d reeled Evans back in and
was maki ng a race ou t of it.
For the nex t fou r laps, Sleeter was all
over the much mor e experienced Evans,
looking for a mis take on which he could
capitalize. Coming out of a sweeping
tum in the back section, Evans ' Suzuki
quit, and Sleeter suddenly found himself with a la-second lead over Taylor .
Sleeter maintained his torrid pace for
the final few laps to easily take the win
on his NCY / Th o r/ Rea lm / Arnette /
Bill's / Ren thal-backed Yamaha. The second- place mone y went to Taylor, wh o,
like Sleeter, was an Intermediate just a
short time ago . The battle for third came
down to the wire, with Walters getting
back around Ty Kady on the final circu it. Honorable mention has to go to
Jeremy Chausse e and Tim Beatt y.
Chaussee finished fifth after starting out
in last place with a rear wheel full of
track ba nners. Beatty went down in the
first turn, rejoined the race, and never
gave up, finishing in the final payback
position of sixth, ahead of Jimmy Varis,
Doug Parso ns and Jerry Aleman.
Eva ns re tu rned with a vengeance,
h
abscon ding wi th the . oleshot in the 20minute 250cc Pro moto aboa rd his Suzuki. Kad y settled into secon d place, ahead
of Sleeter, Ch ris Young, and Chaussee,
w ho was riding a borrowed H on d a .
Evans slow ly p u lled away fro m Kady,
w ho had h is ha n d s full with Sleeter
until Slee ter went down on la p fo ur.
Chaussee was ge t ti ng used to his
mount, an d he caught Kady at the mid-
way poi nt. Chaussee went un de r Kady
in a swe eper to mov e into second place,
but by then Evan s wa s go ne.
Evans cruised the final few laps to
pick up the win over the Cycle Stopbacked Chaussee. Kady finis hed all by
himself in thir d on his YZ250. Sleeter's
bike starting ru nn ing poorly with a few
laps left, and he was forced to hand over
fo urth p lace to Te rrad Fis her. You ng
rounded ou t the top five, ahead of Bean
Baron and Erik Hug hes .
In 125cc Intermediate action , Jeff Eide
took the first-moto holeshot over Ulysses
Pollard and Casey Anderson. Brandon
Proch navy came from a fifth-place start
to work his way around Eide on lap two
for th e lead, and then slow ly pulled
away for the win. Christopher Tocco got
tangled up in the first tum and ended up
fighting his wa y back up from 14thplace
to slip past Eide on the last lap for the
runner-up spot at the finish .
Eide led Anderson, Pollard and the
rest of the pack for his second holesh ot
on the da y. Tocco was bounced around
in the first tum and was mid pack, wh ile
fi rs t- mo to w inn er Prochn a v y we n t
down and rejoined the race in dead last.
Eide led for two laps before Tocco wen t
undern eath him for the lead . Tocco
claimed the overall with a 2-1 performance. Eide went 3-2 for second overall.
KTM-mounted Davi d Rees used consistent 4-5 rid es to earn third over the 7-3
score of Anderson and the 1-9 tally of
Prochnavy.
Israel Ochoa held off Erik Helma and
Blake Tirma n early in the firs t 125cc
Novice moto until Helma out jumped
him and then sta lled his bike in the followi ng comer and fell back to 20th . Tirman dogged Ochoa up un til the whiteflag lap, when he made the pass for the
win. Chad Gaumer clawed his way up
from 10th to finish in th ird , ah ead of
Cole Sleeter and Christop her Marcell .
Tirman was flawless in the second
ro un d, leading every lap on hi YZ125
for a sweep of the class. Ga u me r kept
Tirman hones t the en tire d istance for
se co n d ove ra ll. Sleet er ke p t Do n n ie

ou t Ochoa for third overall.
Th e fi rs t 250cc Intermed ia te moto

hold ing off Dan Berg and Kevin Gahan
by a bike length. Berg got the secondmoto start and used it to his advantage
to finish a few seconds ahead of Fox for
the class win. Gahan was all over Fox
for a close third, ahead of Jimmy Robinson and W. David Troost.
Johnny [eld erd a was untou chable in
the 50cc Stock (7-8) and Open classes,
posting four moto wins. Michael Truglia
was runner-up in all four races. Casey
