H olt cove red th e Sportsman 600cc cla ss, almost going flag to flag. Paul Herman grabbed second ov er Horton, but on the second lap , an aggre ssive Horton rode insid e of Herm a n in tu rn o ne . Herma n retaliated o n lap four and held seco nd to the chec kers. Crumett was fou rth and john Lundgren finished fifth. Horton, on a Yamaha, pa ssed PirehiTO on lap thr ee and set sail after Lewis, but Lewi s' thu ndering twin w as first to the finish line . BSA- mounted Larry Earhart worked through the field forthird,and Pirehirograbbed fnurth. SD FIA presiden t an d longti me competito r Jim McMurren bested the Classic 250cc main on a Harl ey Sprint. Bul taco rider Lesley and Suzu ki twin rid er Horton had a sp irited dice for run ner- up. Horton prevailed at the flag, followed by Lesley and Ossa jockey Rich Trait in fourth. In the Senior (O ver SO) class, Lewis took his seco nd wi n of the day. McMurren finish ed secon d , w hile Wa rren Adams was third. In the Classic 500/ 75Occ contest, Gary Davis, nn a 500 cc Triumph,. grabbed the early lead. Chris Rud y passed Davis on the seco nd goaround, while jeff Apple's 350cc Harley Sprint was a close third. Rody droppc'd the big V twin out of fo ur in to the hay bales on the third lap. A llen McBee powered by Davis for th e w in . Apple was third, and Clark Edtington placed fou rth. The reall y old guys in .the Supcr Senior race wer e o nce ag ain led by Micky A lzo la. Sa nderson CLIFFORD, PA,SEPT. 19 Damien Plolts, the 1999 250cc-Open A/P ro Sport Ama teur Natio na l Ch ampion, dominated the 125cc, 250cc and Over 25 Open Expert classat the 17th annual Tonv D. MX Schools /Pennsyl van ia Sta te Championships. hosted by Tom Hurd Pro mo tio ns at the Hurricane Hills Sports Center. Track con d itio ns were excellent, consid ering Hu rrica ne Floyd d um ped more tha n five inches of rain on northeastern Pennsylvania two da ys prio r to th e event. More tha~ 450 rid e rs sig ned up to race the 25 classes sla ted for the day's program. _ lOS Plotts got a good jump off the gate and piloted his Yamaha YZl25 through the 90-degree left firs t turn an d never loo ked back. Tra iling him were Pa ul Corey, Jim McIl va ine, josh Sterri tt an d Jason Kear . Plotts had a four-seco nd advantage over Co rey by the start of lap two. Near the hal fway mark of lap two, Casey Higgins passed Kea r fo r fift h. Th e top five s p read o u t an d rem ained unchanged un til the last la p, when Higgins passed Sterritt for fourth just before the finis h line. Plott s took the chec kered flag w ith a I 3-second advan tage, Round ing ou t the top five we re Co rey, Mcilvaine, Higgins a nd Sterri tt. Ryan Mills nailed the holeshot in the second 125cc Expert moto, with McIlvaine, Plotts, Sterr it t a nd Pa u l Was Hn in tow .
