Greenville Indoor Motocross Series Round 1: Mulenberg County Agriculture Center Stiles turns heads at Indoor Motocross curves of the indoor circuit as if he were a cruise missile set on a predetermined course. Adam Robinson and Kenny Dale Orr, two highly regarded regional riders, couldn't combat Clark's line and rhythm in the 85cc (12- 15) class and finished second and third behind him. In the Schoolboy class, Clark not only flowed around the track with the greatest of ease, he put 11 other riders to shame. When the starting gate fell, Clark took the holeshot, the whoops, the hairpin turns, the doubles and the tabletops as if he were the only rider on the track. By the sixth lap of the eight-lap main, Clark had lapped some of the slower riders and was on his way to an astonishing victory over the older, bigger bike jockeys. Clark took a victory lap and, whipping his bike around the track, accepted the energetic applause and cheers of the packed indoor arena. eN Mulenberg County Agricufmre Center Greenville, Kenblcky Results: December 4,1999 [Round 1 .f 3J 50 (4-6): 1. Bedford was the 125cc Beginner winner. By DAVID H. waved, Stiles had put Moneymaker behind him and had captured another first-place finish. Burkett, from Collierville, Tennessee, exhibited an immediate mastery of the short indoor track. In both the 125cc Band 250cc B classes, he catapulted himself to holeshot honors in both motos of the heats and mains. Clad in his familiar "Captain America" duds, he shot ahead of and shut down all the other competitors to take across-the-board wins in each class. Two seasoned Kentucky MXers slugged it out in Over 25 and Over 30 competition. Evans and Lewis pushed, prodded and pestered each other in the four-lap heats and then again in the eight-lap mains of both classes. Evans, aboard his blue, barkin' YZ400, bullied his way to the win in the Over 30 class, leaving Lewis to settle for second. However, in the Over 25 contest, Evans had problems. A mishap or two put him back in the pack, with Lewis in the lead. Regaining his composure, Evans worked his way back into the race and managed to finish second, behind Lewis. With a little juice left in his Over 30 tank, Evans took on the likes of Burkett and Keith Cochran in the 250cc B race and pulled off a thirdplace finish in the heat and main. Round one of the Greenville Indoor Motocross Series drew top contenders from six states to the tight and technical track constructed under the roof of the Mulenberg County Agriculture Center, just outside of Greenville, Kentucky. Notable bike jockeys on hand included Clark Stiles of Alabama, Jeff Burkett of Tennessee, Shawn Clark of Indiana, and Lonnie Evans, Keith Lewis and Jordan Moneymaker, all from Kentucky. Stiles, packing two highly tweaked Suzuki machines, rode with an intense, aggressive determination that put him on the podium in two separate classes. In the 125cc A class, Stiles took on Devin Banks, Aaron Mcintyre and a field of 13 other riders, but it was Stiles from start to finish as he captured the win in the class. The 250cc A contest was a whole different ball game. Stiles got jammed up in the middle of the pack at the start. Moneymaker took the lead and settled into his usual "flow and go" style of racing. With lap times running under 30 seconds on the fast and furious indoor track, Stiles went to work, picking away at those in front of him. At the green-and-white, he was running in second and closing on Moneymaker. The intemational field of speedway racers on hand competed in two rounds of heat races, in which 10 points were awarded for a win, five for second place, three points for third and one point for finishing last. The significance of performing well in heat races can't be overstated, as the top three point-scoring riders transfer directly to the front row of the main event, while those who place fourth through ninth in heat-race points transfer to the Last T
