Curry was too strong for the others, winning in true championship fashion. Barlow and FaFard finished a close second and third. Kemp took fourth, Compton had to settle for fifth, and, after crashing, the uninjured "Dazzler" Pearson finished last. Timonium Indoor ST: In Saturday's 600cc Pro race in Timonium, Maryland, Georgie Price (71) leads Tom McGrane (1N), Paul Lynch (19) and Ed Hyde (325) off the start on his way to the win. McGrane placed second. On Saturday. Cory Crenshaw sliced through the field for the 50cc Oil-Injected win, while John Long III held off Jesse Long for the 50cc (7 -9) win. Jared Mees had two great starts from outside the front row to easily win the 125cc contest. Clarence Bull won the 400cc class. While Wakefield put at least two laps on the 50cc (4-6) field, the other 50cc classes were fairly close. John Long grabbed the holeshot from Jesse Long, Kyle Wagner and Nick Farley. John held his line, while Jesse kept looking for an opening. Mikey Krahockwic led into the first turn. over Cory Crenshaw, Mike Diffenderfer and Thomas Webb. Crenshaw slipped under Krahockwic off the fourth tum and disappeared. Diffenderfer found an opening and took second. Veteran indoor competitor Dan Reichert grabbed the lead from the outside of the 250cc front row. Jake Johnson, Todd Stith, Corey Hormes and Tom Majeski were right behind. Johnson slipped under Reichert coming off the fourth turn and took the lead. After a few laps, Stith tried to get under Reichert entering turn one, but they touched. letting Honnes into second. Majeski got under Stith for third on the seventh lap, with Reichert also slipstreaming by. Price grabbed the 600cc Pro lead from recently crowned 600cc Pro Sport champion Tom McGrane Jr .. Phil Libhart and Paul Lynch. Price checked out, while McGrane, Libhart and Lynch battled for second. Lynch feli while trying to get by a lapped rider and was out of contention. In the 250cc Pro contest, Price again took the lead, this time from Ken Yoder. Mike Varnes, Kevin Varnes and McGrane. Yoder Dean Garrod (30). Timonium Indoor Short Track Price twice at Timonium ST By LEN BREECH TIMONIUM, MD, DEC. 10- I I Georgie Price topped off a virtually perfect two days of tight, close racing with wins in the 250cc and 600cc Pro classes. After finishing second on Friday, Price's protege, Jake Johnson, easily took the 250cc final Saturday in the annual Baltimore County Trail Riders/Cock· eysville Optimist Club-sponsored event. Joining Price as class winners on both nights were Dale Wakefield Jr. in the 50cc (46) group and John Lewis V, who destroyed the 80cc class, as he has done most of the season. The format is quite different from other races in the area. Riders can only ride one class (Pros can ride 600cc and 250cc). Time trials determine starting positions. with usually 24 riders advancing to the four heats. The top four go to semis, and from there. the top four go to the final. A and B riders compete together. Friday night winners included Tyler Kidwell in the 50cc Oil-Injected class, Tom Mudgett Jr. in the 50cc (7-9) class, and Bryan Douglas in the 125cc class. After years of winning in the 125cc class, Todd Stith took the 250cc final. Mark Myers won his first final in the 400cc class. managed to keep Price in sight. On the fifth lap.
