Georgie Price topped off a virtually perfect two
days of tight, close racing with wins in the
250cc and 600cc Pro classes. After finishing
second on Friday, Price's protege, Jake Johnson, easily took the 250cc final Saturday in the
annual Baltimore County Trail Riders/Cock·
eysville Optimist Club-sponsored event.
Joining Price as class winners on both
nights were Dale Wakefield Jr. in the 50cc (46) group and John Lewis V, who destroyed the
80cc class, as he has done most of the season.
The format is quite different from other
races in the area. Riders can only ride one class
(Pros can ride 600cc and 250cc). Time trials
determine starting positions. with usually 24
riders advancing to the four heats. The top four
go to semis, and from there. the top four go to
the final. A and B riders compete together.
Friday night winners included Tyler Kidwell
in the 50cc Oil-Injected class, Tom Mudgett
Jr. in the 50cc (7-9) class, and Bryan Douglas
in the 125cc class. After years of winning in
the 125cc class, Todd Stith took the 250cc
final. Mark Myers won his first final in the
400cc class.
managed to keep Price in sight. On the fifth
lap. Kevin Varnes tried to get under his cousin
Mike. only to fall gloriously in the second tum.
