Q Since you have been involved in the sport, what's been your most memorable moment? There's been so many of them ... I think one of the best, one of my proudest moments, was being with my father at a sold-out Anaheim last year for the opening round of the 25th-anniversary season of supercross. It was like the sport was being handed down from one generation to another. That same weekend, we sat down with 10 to 12 of the top 250cc guys. We sat around and listened to where they were coming from. We wanted to let them know that we were not that bad and that we had the best interests of the sport at heart. We were there to cooperate with one another and to help each other. I was very proud of that, and I think it was the missing piece of the puzzle. eN A ©DDffD0li[fiJj]@]0 U@JJ./---~ __ To further enhance the live show for the ticket-buying spectator, a number of additional production elements will be factored into the Y2K series. "For the first time in history, transponders, with real-time scoring, will be added to the series," says Jendro. "Our primary reason for doing this is to educate the fans and people at home - to let them know who is where on the track and at what time. Before, people at home had to wait for a commercial break, and the transponders will change all that. We will also. be branding the transponder times on the Diamond Vision screens in the venues." According to Jendro, another addition to the new series will be the re-emergence of the old-school "over-and-under bridges - such an indelible part of 1970s and 1980s U.S. Supercross. "We'll have the bridge at the second Anaheim round, Minneapolis and the second Pontiac round," he says. "This will allow us to better utilize the space on the stadium floor and allow for more unique and creative track designs." Finally, a new introduction stage (which will also serve as a podium) has been constructed. The stage will be fabricated from aluminum trussing and diamond plate and feature video screens on each side.
