Wessel stormed onto Aaltonen's rear
wheel and despe rate ly sought an
opening for 20 minutes , before a
mi nor e rror lost him contact , and

an initial 10th.
Bartolini, meanwhile, had offered little res is ta nce to any of the trio.
"They were not a danger to me, and ,
after the ra in, the track is very dangerous," Bartoli ni said. "It would be so easy
to m a ke a mistake." Down to fou r th by
half d is ta nce, h e was 200 vards ahead of
Jo hansson in fifth - and des pite a ll the
Sw ede's efforts, tha t was how it would

If Bartolini had ridden wi th the title
in mind in race one, he went out in the
second to show he is a true champ. Af ter
a first-lap pass on Aaltonen, no one saw

Kurt Nicoll admitted in Finland that he had been approached' for assis tance on the KTM four-stroke by 18 of the 'current top 20. The factory
