Just un der 400 entra nts made it out for the eve nt. Temperatures this week were mild in comparison to th e recent heat wave, as the mer cury bare ly hit the 80-degree mark. At the start of the first 16-24 C mote, Peters a nd Jerem iah Johnson diced it out for the fron t position. Peters shut th e d oor for good on th e ope ning lap in the famo us Dirty Dozen whoop section to-secure the lead . Justin Nelges moved into second on lap two, only to go down near the finish-line ar ea on the third of four laps. John son slip ped to fou rt h bu t held the position until the finish, as Ryan B1eess took fifth. In moto two, Johnso n powered his YZ250 into the lead i. fron t of Peters, Joe Kldd , Jar ed n An derson , Bleess, Maas a nd Kyle Siewert. On the second lap, Peters closed the gap in the Dirty Dozen a nd th e two flew side by side over the newly built-up doubl e after the whoops . Peters had the momen tum to p ass for the lea d , b u t John son stayed with in striking dis tance, and the two finished one and two . Maas passed a rider or two each la p un til he move d into third. Kidd imp roved on h is first- moto 11th to take four th, wit h Blees s a consi sten t fifth . In the Pee Wee 60cc class, Bruce Dehn aga in was a for ce to be reckoned with, taking th e win. Dehn led the lar ge 27-rider class from start to finish. KTM rider Joh n H einlein cha llenged early, but it seemed to be Dehn's day as he slowly pu lled awa y from th e fie ld on eac h of th e three la ps . Heinlein took second, follow ed by Matt Ahlers, Kyle Deh n and Jesse Kangas. Mota two was m uch the same, the top three rid ers finis hing in the sa me order. Finis hing fourth in the mota was Ni cholas Jackson, and Schmid t took fifth .
