The Sp ortsma n Open T win race featured Ken Co rpe and Clark Sumner, both riding Pre-mie r-cla ss bik es. Co rpe put his BSA A-lO int o th e lead in the mo rnin g mot o, but S u m nc r passed him under braking on lap three of th e si x-lap race. Co rpe returned the favo r next time aroun d a nd held the po sition to the chec kered flag . In the second moto, Sumner tried to avo id a rerun b jum p in g in to the lead at the start. It looked like Kro ll was going to d uplicate his disappearing act in ro und two, bu t McDaniel had ot her p la ns . Their lines intersect ed at the exit of the turn, with bo th rid ers going dow n in a p ile , McDaniel was restarted and un der way first for the win, w hile Kroll gestured to McDaniel tha t he was "nu mber on e" in his book. Nick Simpson used a sur prising 9-3 fo r third overall, behind Kroll. ' w ith Mikey Garcia (7-5) and Gunn (5-7) filling oul the top five. After displacing a fast -starting Brad Goo lsby for the lead on lap one of the first 12See Beginn er mo to, Suhr mo tored away fo r the win . Tod d Eide kept Su hr in sight but w ou ld have to settle for second over Nick Jepson, Richa rd O ja and Da rin Ch isholm. . Eide inheri ted the lead , but he also hit the d irt , handing the top spot to Chisholm. Suhr slowly reeled in Chisholm and then knifed under him ncar the midway point for the lead. Suhr contin ued on unco ntested for the overall win. Chisholm's runner-up finish earned th e second-p lace tro phy over the 4-3 of Oja and 3-6 of [cpson.
