Goodman delivered a beautifu l, high-flying run on his CRSOO in the firs t round , carding a n incred ible 2.742 sec onds to take the 600ccclass win and set a very intim ida ting fast time. No o ne the night be fore had even broken int o the twos, with Schultz the fas test with a 3.049. Schultz claim ed his first win in the Open clas s with a blaz in g 2.878-second run . Surprisingly, he passed his seco nd attemp t in the Open class , o pting for o nly o ne s ho t at the fast time in the second round in the Pus hr od class. Schultz had a r\'thcr rougn run in the firs t Pushrod round, stop ping the dock in 3.984 seco nds. Even though he was in firs t at intermission , he figured that time wou ldn't hold u p for the class w in - a nd he wa s right, as firs t Jos h Carrier moved into the lea d w ith a 3.944-second run on his Triumph, and then Steve Shafer carded a 3.937-second run o n his Harley to move out in fro nt. Schul tz then tw isted the Harley's thro ttle wide open and dum pe d the clu tch. The roaring behemoth jumped off the firs t stage, cleared th e se cond complete ly a nd jum ped again as soo n as it hit the gro und , this time high in the air over th e four th breaker. landi ng s tra ig ht u p abo ut 10 feet from the light. Schultz stayed on an d wheelied th rough the lights in an astounding 2.728 seconds to easily take th e class win, a lso snatching the beautifu l Fas t Ti me trophy with a las t-ditch clutch performance for th e second da y in a row. Lln"'e Schultz had been Wade's main competition the night bef o re in the two cla sses, bu t damages to h is snorti n' Norton kept it o ut of act ion on Sunday. Lane compensa ted by bla sting his Yama ha twin over the top in an excellent 3.096 seco nd s to take the 750cc-c1ass win, with Wade his closest cha llen ger with a 3.153-seamd time on his Yamaha. "Fast Andy" Fortner piloted his Hondasaki triple over in 3.162 seconds, and "W ild Child" Tom Daniels carded 3.218 seconds for the fourth spo t.
