Events Higgi ns was second by the end of the lap , and he picked up the pace to catc h Kear. Tublewicz and Ties ler dropped to third and fourth while Andrew Lucas pa ss ed H everly to ta ke fifth . Higgins began chipping away at Kear 's lead and was pressuring him. Kear , about to take the white flag on the spectator finish-line triple, didn't triple, which gave Higgins the chance he needed. Higgins assumed the poi nt position. Kear seemed to drop off the pace once Higgins passed him. The first moto went in the books as Higgins, Kear , Tiesler, Esposito and Lucas . Lucas ea r ned the second -moto holesh ot and the early lead , tra iled by Hever ly, Dona ld Dicillo j -, Tu blewi cz and Kear. By halfw ay th ro ugh la p o ne, Dicillo, Kear and Tiesler moved u p to St.'Cond, third and fou rt h. Heverly dropped back to fifth. Lucas star ted lap two wi th a triple. Kear passed Lucas for the lead on . the hu ge Hurrican e step-u p bu t crashed exiting the following tum . Kear was visibly shaken, an d it took him several mi nut es to remo unt. Lucas go t some breat hing room after Kear 's crash, bu t Higgins was o n the m o ve agai n and s lici ng through the pack. The top five at the start of la p thr ee were Lucas, Dicillo, Tiesler, Higgins an d Darryl Smi th . Dicillo too k the lead w hen he made a pe rfect blockpa ss on Lucas nea r the end of lap three. Higgins passed Tiesler for third by the start of lap fou r and was soon pressuring Lu cas for seco nd. Tiesler dropped to fourth. Higgins passed Lucas for second ' about halfway through lap four. Dicillo w as out front by five seconds , but it didn't take Higgins long to cut his ad vantage to two seconds . Hi ggins took th e lead on the spectator finish -line triple by tripli ng, while DiciUo didn't. Higgins took the checkers and the overall with a perfect 1-1 score. Rounding out the top five were Dicillo, Tiesler, Lucas and Esposito. Nichol as McPhee earned h im s e lf holeshot honors in the first 50cc (7-8 ) class. Trailing McPhee were Jake Beebe , Jesse Kuzbyt, Zachary Whitmore an d Stephen Chapkovich, Whitmore managed to move up to second by the end of the firs t la p. Beebe, Kuzbyt and Chapkovich dropped to th ird , fo ur th a nd fift h. Wh it mo re passed McPhee on the last lap to earn the mo to win . Trailing Whi tmore were McPhee, Beebe, Kuzby t and Chapkovich. McPhee repeated his good start of the first mo to wit h another holes hot and the early lea d . In tow were Whitmo re , Ku zbyt, Beeb e a nd Chapkovich. Beeb e passed Kuzbyt for third at the start of lap two . Kuzbyt dropped a position to fourth. Whitmore took the lead by d oubling the small step-u p d ouble in th e back of the ra ce co u rse whil e th e leader , McPhee, didn't. Whitmore picked up the pa ce and took the checkers with a nin e-second lead. Rounding out the top five were McPhee, .
