Fraue nberge r tried the same on Steffen, but Steffen held a fast, consistent line all the way around the oval. Frauenberger's high-and -square line through .three and four closed the gap on the leader, but one and two had begun to dry ou t an d get slippery, letting Steffen open the gap back u p by hug ging the pole, a lin e Frauenberger soon began to imitat e. Crummett held third, ahead of Claydon, with Bruce Reynolds joining th e top fiv e. At the white flag, Steffen still had the lead , but Frauenberger gave the high line one last try through three and four . This time Steffen got on the gas a bit too hard or a bit too early, and the bike p itched sideways in four and lost traction coming onto the front straight. Frauenberger was hard on the gas with his,bik e u pri gh t a nd was hooking up in a drag race to the line. Steffen's mish ap slowed him eno ug h tha t Frau en bcr ger cau gh t and p assed him , lead ing by the wid th of a w heel at the che ckered flag . On th e second tr y, Scott My ers and James Wood h it turn o ne together, followed by Chad Morse, Mark Prescot t and Ron Wood , alrea dy up to fifth from the pe nalty lin e. Ron Wood wor ked past Prescott and was soo n on Morse 's back wheel and running low , hoping for a mistake. Ron Wood held that low line out of four and down the front straight to take the third spot going into one , but Morse kept the gas on longer and drove around the outside to take the position back. Myers continu ed to lead James Wood up front as the checkered flag waved , w ith Morse keepi ng Ron Wood in fourth and Prescott in fifth. The You th class continu es to grow, both in size and enth usiasm. Alex Wood led the field on a trick C&J Honda 80, followed by Tommy Deu chars and Ricky Briggs.
