Humphrey only nett ed a fifth in mot o one, as jon at ha n Kerr rallied his wav to second behi nd Fult on. Mot o tw o, however, had Humphrey more than read y and willing to take the cha llenge, which he did - by taking the win. Unfortunately, his firs t-mote finish would onl y yield a second -overall spot behind Kerr's 2-3 for the class overall. Humphr ey re tu rned lat er in the day to contest the SOcc (14-16) category, an d he took on the com petition writh zeal. His first moto was less than perfect, as WayIon McCulloch powered his way in front of him, bo th rider s thirsty for the wi n and d ispla ying their minibike sk ills in every, corn er and over every jump. Each time Humphrey tried to find a different lin e to ge t pa st McCulloch, McCull och shu t the d oor on him. Kerr absconded wi th the holeshot in the first Su pe rm ini rnot o, with McCulloch in the co-pilot seat, chased by Tiffer Wri ght and then Humphrey. McCu lloch closed in on Kerr in the creek area of the course on lap thr ee, takin g ove r the lead , but Humph rey was on a mission , moving up through the pack like a Roman candle spewi ng fire. Fulton ga ted sixth o ff th e s ta r t , a tta ched him s e lf to Hu m p hre y and followe d him int o la p fo u r in seco nd , a nd w o u ld ke e p th e position the rem ainder of the race. Hu mphrey returned in moto two to take the holeshot and never look back, lead in g wi re to wi re. McCull och ga ted second off the start, follow ed by Fu lton. Kerr used lap two to pass Fu lton on top of the mountain and he held his position to finish third, but Fulton was still able to wrestle a third overall by wa y of his 2-4 performan ce.
