but no one exp ected the likes of Damon
Brad shaw to show up - not even Bradsha w . Some friends coaxed Bradshaw ,
who has been livin g near Boise with his
wife and four-month-old baby, out of
retirement. He borrowed a motorcycle
and s h o wed up, putting on an
iinpromptu workshop and in the
process proving that he can still hop on
a bike and rail.
"Some guys mentioned racing to m e
last night, so I borrowed a bike and
came up here today and had fu n," Brad shaw said. "I haven't done a whole lot
durin g the la st tw o years other than
play (ri de), but it was fun. I actuall y
had more ene rgy than I tho ught I was
going to have. I've only ridden four or
five times the last year, and it was trail
riding."
When the ga te dropped for the first
moto, it was th e Premier Motorsports
Husaberg of Jimmy LaMa stus wi th the
.holesho t, and Bradshaw was less than a
bike length behind until he passed him
for the lead. Local hotshoe Robb Floth .
followed the duo.
In temperatures approaching 100
degrees, Bradshaw ran up front for bet ter than h alf the race. Woods, meanwhile, was on the mov e as he pushed up
to laMastus and passed him for second

place. Woods continued his drive to the
fron t, ree ling in a tiri ng Bradshaw and
then passing him for the win.

laMastu s fell victim to eng ine failure
on the last lap while running third, making way for local up-and-comer and out door N ational competitor Floth to take
those honors.
Round ing out the top five pla ce s
were Cory Bauder and Scott Meyers,
respectively.

As they lined u p for moto two, the
number-eigh t bike of Bradshaw wa s
missing, but the sound of a four-stro ke
being kic ked co uld be hea rd coming
fro m th e di rection of his pit. Moments
befo re the start, he pulled int o his start ing p os ition. When th e s ta rti ng gate
dropped, the holeshot went to Woo ds.
But m inutes lat er, Wo ods woul d fin d
him self back on th e sta rting lin e afte r
the race wa s red - flagged due to a faul ty
gate. On the restart, Bradshaw gra bbed
the holeshot and held the lead for several laps bef ore Precision Powersports'
Todd Downs made h is mo ve. H e and
Bradshaw diced for a number of laps
before Downs finally put a littl e distance
between them .
"He (Bradshaw) is my biggest hero of
all time and here I am getting to race
with him," Downs said. "The guy's got
more talent that anybody I know. H e
just showed me great lines and I followed those . I knew that I w as gonna
