A small down· pour during the firs t hou; o f the race was not enough to allevi ate tht" dusty conditions, but it was cnough to fog up gog gles and produce hot and muggy temperat url'S. The setup of the race allowed most rid ers to get back on time, w ith w ell-pla ced r es et s a nd road se ct io n s beTh.·een each tough section. The loop e nd ed up being thc most difficult section and made the difference be tweren many rid ers ' scores . Veator dropped four points through this sec tion compared to Brcw....r's five poin ts.
