In this position, the pin gets additional support from a new bridge that divides the third scavenging port. The first and second scavenging ports have been reshaped for smoother flow, and the exhaust-port width has been narrowed 1mm . The port has also been reshaped, with an improved chamfer to prevent the piston ring from catching the bridge. To improve low-end to midrange power. the exhaust-valve shape has been altered and the control system has been changed from a direct type to an L-arm type for more precise control, particularly at low rpm . Other engine changes include increased crankshaft inertia, with an increase in primary compression; carbon-tiber reed valves; a new race-team-replica exhaust pipe (designed to improve mid· to high-range . performance); the same Keihin PWK38PWJ carburetor but with a bypass starter circuit (as does the 250) tei improve low-rpm throttle response and power; and new ignition timing.
