and for the fourth consecu tive season this supersuppo rte r a nd fa n ha s added to the purse by
giving $100 to every heat . semi and ma in wi nner. Naycan always be found in the pits. and
the quiet. unassuming man is always ready to

to every rid er. no ma tter what di vision they
rid e.
Shawn McC o nnell was red -hot a nd at th e
top of his division for on ly the seco nd tim e this
seaso n. McConne ll ca me awa y with a double
win, ca p turi ng bo th the Scra tch an d Hand icap
main events.

Oak Enduro, whi ch is held every yea r near Daytona late in the sp rin g. The Daytona Dirt Riders
did a great jo b, ta king the dust and heat into
cons id erat ion when layi ng o u t the course . The
74.4-mile event consisted of bo th old tra ils and
new trai ls throu gh areas that are som et ime s
u nd er water this time of Yea r. A small down·
pour during the firs t hou; o f the race was not
enough to allevi ate tht" dusty conditions, but it
was cnough to fog up gog gles and produce hot
and muggy temperat url'S.
Rid er s started th e fir st loop and were run
through a tight st'Ction t1l.lt claimed <.1t least on e
point from all of the AA and A rid ers and up to
ci ~h t poi nts from the slower riders. The setup of
the race allowed most rid ers to get back on time,
w ith w ell-pla ced r es et s a nd road se ct io n s
beTh.·een each tough section. Aft er thl' first gas
s to p, rid er s left from the ca m pg round an d
ente red loop two.
The loop e nd ed up being thc most difficult
section and made the difference be tweren many
rid ers ' scores . Veator dropped four points
through this sec tion compared to Brcw....r's five
poin ts. Foll owing another gas sto p, the rid er s
