It needs a lillie less rake in it. I'm losing time in the comers . but it's fast on the straightaways. Compared to the Suzukis, they don 't have anything on me in the s traig hts . " When asked what made h im de cide to ride the dirt track, Pegram replied; "I'm just having fun, but you always want to try and go fast. I called Feraeci, and he said, 'Don 't get burt." Thanks to his crash in the main event, Larry Pegram failed to heed Duca ti team owner Eraldo Feracci' s words, as he tangled with Roy M iller and wound up in the tum -one hay bales. "' got a run on the guy going up the stra ightaway, but I co uldn' t qurte get under him, so I just decided to go around him, " a disoriented Pegram said. "W e have a wait-and -see at tit ude , We' re ac tually jus t helping out F&S Suzuki and a few of our dealers by giving them engines. We 're just trying to help it along . Gary (Stolzeu burq) did a great job (with the TL motorcycle). For putting nothing into it. we have gotten a lot out of it. .. Speaking of the Suzu kis. the "catastrophic failures " that w ere suffered last week by at least two of the machines w ere anyt hing but. J.R. Schnabel and Joe Kopp bo th inadvertently h it the kill sw itc hes on the ir TL s, Kopp in the heat race and Schnabel in the main event Gary Rogers did have to have the timing gear on his machine repinned to prevent the moto r from jumping time. It apparently ran well at Indy B re tt La ndes debuted the revamped ver sion of the Honda VTR1000 at Indy, The primered machine looked great in its new C&J Racing frame, although teething problems hampered its performance. Still , Landes did put the bike in the main event. finishing seventh, " W e just threw the thing together this week, " Landes said . " ' was going as fast . as it wou ld go through the middle of the corner - that's about all that I can tell you . " The AMA is reportedly set to reconsider its rules structure for the SuperTracker class 'after the next race in Du Quojn , Illinois. on July 24 , One of the cons iderations will be the upping of the displacement limit on pushrod based V -twins to 1200cc . That is a move that severa i team s, incl uding some of the Suzuki riders, think wo uld benefit the series . ."I co uldn' t believe that (M ike) Hacker. wa s right there with me in our heat race," Suzuki rider Joe Kopp said after the Indy. Mi le, " He started out good, and then we (Suzukisl just motored him . He ' s really rid ing that thing (Harley) hard, I wish they wou ld give him a couple hundred mo re cc , That wou ld close us up and make us more co mpetitive. " 21
