four . Dubb Ferrell fell victim to Castro's
ad vances on the nex t lap. Remo gave
Castro a figh t for two laps, but by the
seventh lap leader DuVarney knew the
ra ce was on. Cas tro went on to pass
DuVarney and reach the checkered flag
first, ov er Du Var ney, Remo, Ferrell an d
Smith. Castro later said that as he operated the foot clu tch, his leg bumped the
hand shifter an d knocked the bike ou t of
gear. Still, he was very confident that be
would ge t to the fro nt.

Gutierrez's Aztec Racing XR 750s to first

race of night. 'Mu lder was on The Shop's
XR750 once aga in , and he pl ayed tag
with th e young guys until the racing go t
serio us. Mu lder said that he w ishes he'd
ha d that kind of power when he was
racing for real.
The 500cc Su ppo rt class was won by
Pau l Colston, who claimed it via a flag-toflag victory. Larry Earh art passed Johnson for second, and Keith Brad ford finished fourth after a seventh-place start.
