Don Mullen was just in front of Todd Winse tt , Rick Winsett a nd Ro y Mill er as the 600cc Pro class roar ed ou t of the seco nd turn. The fro nt quart et pu lled a little d istan ce on the rest of the fie ld , w ith a litt le shifting of posit ion s behi nd Mull en . Winsett found his rhythm on the third lap, getting by his cou sin Tod d permanently fo r sec ond and taki ng th e lead from Mullen as they sta rted the fourth lap. Geo rg ie Price was in fron t of Mik e Klop p, Dallas Baer and Cory Roth right from the start of the 600cc A final. After havin g a stirri ng battle for the win in the Ov er 30 fina l two eve nts before, Bacr and Klopp swapped spo ts again , while Price started to pull away. Jake Johnson shot into second on the thi rd lap, just about the time Klopp dr op ped ou t with a dan gling steel shoe. Opening-ro und action saw the Ralph 's/Food 4-Less / FMF/ De l Amo Yama ha -backed YZI25 of Andreu Labrado r wi th the holesh ot over Levi Reid, Tilley and John Ledd y . Whi le Labrador led th e cha rge ou t fro n t during the first few laps, • Tille y made his wa y. around Reid for seco nd , w hile Morgan overca me a ba d sta rt to land in third by lap three . A miscue on Labrador's part qui ckly d ropped him to fourt h, with Tilley now in control of the lead position. Morgan got arou nd Reid for the runner· up s po t a t the mid w a y po in t and clos ed in o n Ti lley, but Tilley a nd h is Z Raci ng /Pro Cir eu it/ Wind / LBZ-sponso red KTM were up to the cha lleng e a nd held on for th e first -mot a win . Mor gan led the entire IO moto to take hom e the first-pla ce money , Tilley kept him hon est the entire distance to collect the secon d -p lace pa yback . Reid passed Labrad or durin g the firs t third o f th e ra ce to wind up third overall. Mik e Slee ter was untou chable in the fir st 12Sec Intermediate mota, leading every lap for the win , Jake Elkins ran toward the front of the pack, holding off Cerrit Ordelman for second at the checkers. Sleeter found himself mired in tr affic a nd running 10th after the ope nin g lap of round two wh ile Brian Reichel and Elkins made the ir getaways at the front of the field. Sleeter climbed all the wa y up to third, behind Reichel, with three laps co mp leted , only to go down and hav e to sta rt all over again from eigh th pla ce . Elkins motored aw ay for the second-moto and overall win . Sleeter mad e it all the way back up to third by the fin ish for a hard-fou ght second overa ll. Reich ell ' s seco n d· mo to runn e r-up fin ish clinched third in the final sta nd ings ove r the 5-4 of Jos h Morain e. Jet Browne and Steve Berg teamed up to lead the first couple of laps of the annual Memori.lI D.1Y team race at the end of the da y. The 250ccPro-class w in ner, Don Up to n, and his team mate Danny Mohr wrestled awa y the lead on lap three and ran out front for most of the race. The YZl 25-mounted tt..~m of Cerri t Ordelman an d Mark Valcore c..1me from their II th-pJace start to pass the Up ton /Mohr team with slightly more than a lap remai ning to tak e the victory.
