On a number of downhills, Kuro yama
screamed as he hit bottom. Some thought
it was a motivati onal tool. ot so. It was
simply pain.
"I don't like downhill because of wrist
problems.t'he said after his best overall of
the season.

with Tarres Andorra's Steve Colley; bu t
Kuroyama took fourth because he had
more cleans, 24 to Co lley's 21.
Bell was the top- ranking North American today, lowering his score to 98 from
Saturday's 114.
"Today for me was a lot better," the
Montesa North America rider said: " I felt
a lot better, my bike was running a lot
better. The seco nd loo p sta rted off not so
bad. I fived the second section with a broken ribbon, w hich wasn't really a good
deal; it wa s an easier section but then so rt
of picked it up toward the end. I twoed
numbe r fou r, which Lam p kin fived o n
his first loop, and cleaned nu mber five on
bo th loops and cleaned number six both
loops . I didn 't a tte m p t se ve n o r eigh t
tod ay because seven was just as d ifficult
as yesterd ay, if no t more, and eig ht they
mad e m ore d ifficu lt . And I wa tched a
bunch of the Eu ropea n guys go through
and they we re all struggling on both sections."

"A lot of the sections I wasn 't rid ing o r
w asn't d oing very w ell, and w at ching
them rid e g ives yo u insi ght into how it
was to be ridden or what the technique
was," he said . "Better techniques, their
overall sk ill level is a lo t be tter. They
don't make the same silly mista kes we
ma ke. Their basics, obviously, a re a lot
better. It worked out really well."
