New Hampshire International Speedway Loudon, New Hampshire Results: June 19 (Round 7 of 12) (Left) Erion Racing teammates Kurtis Roberts (80) and Nicky Hayden (69) lead the way in the Formula Xtreme final. The win went to Hayden over Joshua Hayes and Mark Miller; Roberts ended up fourth. (Below) The Pro Thunder race gets underway with Shawn Higbee (3) starting from pole position. The Californian streaked away to· an uncontested victory, his third of the season. it was too late and he would have to set- tle Ior second. "I was kind of behind Kurtis and Mark and they were riding really good and I said, 'Well, I just need to settle down and ride around and see what's going to ha ppen, if they've left me an opportunity, you know, take it: and see if I could with it and luckily it "lOrked out for me," Hayes said. "I just was strong in a couple of spots, they were stronger than me in a couple and I just Iound a hole and hopefully I was fast enough everywhere else that they couldn't go back by me. 1 was waiting around and seeing where I could make a move and where I couldn't. I wanted to make sure it was safe and make sure it would stick. This place is pretty easy to get caught out and to hang somebody out to dry pretty eas'l." Roberts held on to third until the 23rd lap, when Miller got him, also in turn six, and the podium was set. "I was more battling with myself in this race, actually," Miller said. "We . g c :::> .., 16 made some changes to the bike right befo.re the first stint and it really didn't work out too well for us, so we went back to the better setup and unfortunately I couldn't get my head going as fast as I was earlier because I was so afraid. I made a couple of really bad mistakes in the first stint that almost put me -on my head. It took me a while to get back in my rhythm. Near the end, I think, my last lap was my fastest lap. [f we could do it all over again, 1'd love to." Thol>gh he finished third, Miller did pick up an extra couple of points on the championship-leading Roberts. . "That was definitely a small bonus out of this whole thing - I need to finish in front of him and hopefully he'll give us a race with no points, and maybe have a DNF of some sort, and we can be right there for the championship," Miller said. "I need to beat Kurtis week in and week out. I also need to beat Nicky here and Josh Hayes and all the other guys out here. I'm happy to beat Kurtis, but I'm a little disappointed in myself and how I rode today." Roberts maintained a healthy championship lead over Miller, 215-184, aIter seven of 11 races. Hayes is third at 177, with Hayden closing in fourth at 169. "I just rode smart and .took what I could get." Roberts said. "Miller wa second in points, so I knew he wanted to pass me. I gave up one paint to him in the title chase, so we accomplished what we came to do. The title will be won on consistency and that's what we're shooting for." Behind the lead four came Street & Competition's Des Conboy, a New Jersey rider who considers Loudon his home track. He'd battled Graves Motorsports' Takahito Mori, from whom he was able to edge away with about four laps to go. Both were on Yamaha R-ls.. Fastrax Racing's Suzuki-mounted Dean Mizdal was the first 750cc rider, finishing seventh in front of the Bratz Motorsports' Yamaha R-1 of Clint Bratz. CIII FORMULA XTREME, 1. Nkky Hayden (Hon); 2.
