IF YOU MISS THIS TRIP... USA/Dunlop/Sportsman Cycle-sponsored 300 M/XC by a narrow margin, taking the win over the YZ400 of Scott Monis and Scott Underwood by only 29 seconds. The two teams finished seventh and eighth overall, respectively. "I kind of wussed out today," Daryl Folks admitted. "I've got a I:rad back, and it's been bothering me all week. J thought it was okay until I got done with my second section. I rode my third section, and I told my girlfriend, Sherry, 'If Rick's feeling good, I'm going to leave him on for the last 57 miles.' He kept making time, and I kept losing a little bit. It could partly be mental because of the back. I don't know, but it's definitely hurting me. The original plan was for me to ride most of the miles, and Rick actually wound up riding a little bit more than me." . Under 450cc Four-Stroke-class winners Tim 'Staab and Garth Sweetland ended up beating the two Vet teams, earning sixth overall with a time of 5:35:40. "We were racing all the way, pretty much on their tails, trying to inch forward because we knew we had to try to get them on time," said Montclair Yamaha/ Precision Concepts/FMF / IMS-backed Sweetland. "We were just trying to get further and further up. Everybody rode good. It was hard to make any passes out there. You'd just kind of creep up, just hope somebody made a mistake. Everybody rode pretty good today." eM Tonopah 300 Tonopah,Nevada Results: April 17, 1999 (Round 2) O/A: 1. Brian Brown/Destry Abbott O
