McAdam, Spearing take over
Glen Helen Motocross
By Bob Alloy
SAN BERNARDINO, CA, MAR 2J
Racing at Glen Helen is always something to
look forward to, and 31 members of the Riverside OTMX were not disappointed, as they once
again experienced another great day of challenges and competition.
Master B-class racer Dennis McAdam started
out leading the action, but by the second lap he
was overtaken by' Frank Thompson. Thompson
continued his lead for three more laps, and then
McAdam found the right time for a pass and
blasted past him to take the win.
Moto two began with a McAdam holeshot,
followed by the moto win.
The Expert class had lots of action and
excitement, as the lead position was constantly
challenged. Ii began with jim McConnell and his
.KX out in front. Then Steve Read overtook the
lead. David Wallace then put the pass on Read
and led until Rob Ruder passed him. However,
it was George Spearing who made the winning
pass on Ruder to take the win.
In moto two, Wallace had the lead and held
it for two laps. Once again, Spearing took over
and five laps later he made off with another
first. Wallace grabbed second place.
In Amateur action, Dennis Rosenberg kept
the power up on his YZ400, grabbing the lead
and the ,vin in the first moto. Barry Hale also
did some last moving, claiming second place.
Andrew Immiti had his KTM in the lead
position in moto two until john Oemens took it
away on lap four. Oemens then went on to take
the win. but not without a clhaIJenge from Hale,
who was right heltind Itim, finishing second.
The Novice class started off with 77-year-old
jack Biery leading all the younger kids to the
first corner, at which time Barry Simon took
over the lead. imon kept the lead all the way to
the checkers. Steve Alexander took a welldeserved second place.
Moto two started like the first, with Biery
blasting out ahead of the pack. After the first
turn, Alexander took over the lead and found all
the winning lines for the remainder of the mota.
The moto win earned Alexander the overall win,
with Simon claiming second.
