I f . It • • • , • • • . . . It the month of March, compliments of track owner Terry Cordray. Grabbing the holeshot in both motos of the combined Over 30/Over 40 gate was Yamaha-mounted Greg Lewis. Lewis claimed the Over 30 win by blocking the early pa s attempts of second-placed Over 30 racer Tommy Dickey, who finished with an eight-second lead at the checkers. Although running third on the track, Suzuki-mounted Tom Smith claimed the overall win in the Over 40 group with dual victories. In moto one, Over 40 racer Ray Arnold moved up from a fourth-place start to challenge Smith. Smith and Arnold 'dueled for the final three laps, with Smith getting the edge at the finish line. [n moto two, Kawasaki-mounted Ralph Robinson led the group of Over 40 racers to cl1allenge Smith, also doing battle with Jay Baker for second. Smith brought in the win, with Robinson netting second, followed by Baker. In moto one of the 80cc Beginner class, Yamaha-mounted Justin Little got a slight edge on the rest of the field, pulling the lead out of the first turn. By lap two, a four-way battle for the top spot was raging between Kawasakimounted Casey Dowell, Bradley Knight and Yamaha-mounted Gary Shelton. Midway through, Shelton dug in and passed the top three, though he and Dowell continued to battle to the d1eckers, with Shelton edging out Dowell. In moto two, Shelton and Dowell c-ontinued to duel for the lead as a freight train of five riders - including Justin Malcolm, Knight, Adam Presley and Ben Rodemeyer - battled for the third position. Lap three saw Sheldon opening up a slight lead over Dowell, with ~ight holding down third just seconds before the dirt-pounding lineup' of Cody Cothran, Charles Borchardt, Malcolm and Little. Sheldon claimed the win, giving him a 1-1 for the overall. Dowell received second overall with 2-2 moto scores, followed by Knight willi a 3-3 tally.
