n her three years as a Pro Stock. Bike
racer, Angelle Seeling has seen the
best and the worst that the class has
to offer, and she has decided that she
likes the view from the front of the pack
a lot better than from behind.
Seeling, like everyone else in
NHRA's two-wheel class, spent most of
last season planted firmly in Matt Hines'
rear-view mirror, as the second-generation star won a record 10 of 14 events
and breezed to his second consecutive
Winston title. As Seeling prepares for
the 1999 Mac Tools Gatornationals, the
first of 14 Pro Stock Bike races on the
NHRA schedule, she is determined not
to endure a repeat of last season.
"We got off to a slow start last
year, and it took us most of the
season to catch up," said the Team
Winston rider, who won three
races in. 1998 but finished a distant
second to Hines in the points battle.
"When we began. the year, We didn't
have a sponsor, but once we joined
Team Winston in April, things
started to turn around. By the
end of the season, we felt that
our bike was equal to or better than Matt's, and my crew
has worked hard all winter
to maintain that edge. Now,
the pressure is on me to win
some races."
