In the first moto of the Vet 30 Novice class, the hoJeshot went to Dawson Leachman; he was followed closely by Jeff Gray and Lysdale. With a couple of quick moves, Lysdale was in the lead. Gray also followed with a pass before the pack crested "Devil's Drop." Running fourth was Kirk Barnett, who was followed by Kimo Burnham. Lysdale was out front and charging. Gray was still in second, but Barnett was all over Leachman and he made the pass in the back section of the track. The pack remained in the same order for a couple of laps until Zach Lindburg, who had suHered a mid pack start, reeled in and passed Leachman to claim fourth. Lysdale took the first moto in convincing style over Gray, Barnett, Lindburg and Leaclunan. As the pack barreled down the start stretch in the second moto, the holeshot looked to be going to Stewart Fichlen, but when the pack turned the corner, Fichlen allowed Lysdale the opportunity to sneak into tl,e lead. The pack was winding its way through the infield with Lysdale leading, followed by Fichlen, Burnham and Leachman. First-moto runner-up Gray was back in the seventh spot and looking to advance his Kawasaki to the front of the pack as soon as he could. When tl,e pack completed tlleir first lap, Lysdale had a comfortahle margin over Fichlen, who was to faU victim to the hard-charging pack. Gray had moved up to fifth and was closing in rapidly on second. Burnham made his, move on the second Jap, passing Fichlen for second, Gray was also on the move and he took fourth from Leachman and then took third from Fichlen in the same lap. On the third lap, Gray passed Burnham, who looked to be tiring. but it was too little too late, as Lysdale was already on cruise control to his second mota win of the day. Lysdale was followed across the line by Gray and Burnham, Lysdale then rolled up to the line for his sec-. ond race of the day, the 250cc ovice class, When the gate dropped, it was Kirk Chandler and Lysdale going through the corner at the same time. With a bump of the elbow, Chandler pulled a slight advantage in turn two. The two racers ba ttled tooth and nail the entire mota. On the final lap, Lysdale got a run on Chandler coming down the downhill. Lysdale had the advantage and started to pinch off Chandler on the last drop-off. While trying to make the pass, Lysdale then got sideways as his bike landed in the chop. Chandler quickly snaked the inside line and retook the advantage, The order at the finish was Chandler, Lysdale and, a ways back, Scott Kishel. As the pack took off for the second moto, it was Chandler with his second holeshot of the day. Lysdale was running tlurd, and he made a quick pass to get into second. Lysdale began hounding handler and made his move on lap. three at the top of the downhill. Lysdale made the pass stick, but he could not shake Chandler, When the white flag came out, the two riders were neck and neck. Chandler puJled abreast of Lysdale coming down the hill. Lysdale stuck to the inside rut as Chandler swung around the outside and outhorsepowered Lysdale going "p the next hill. Chandler maneuvered around a lapper and took the checkers, leaving Lysdale in _ second, followed by Kevin Burns. Results 80 BEG: 1.
