Laddusaw and his new Yamaha shaved the ice off the Saddleback Race Park pond as he flew to heat-race and main-event wins over points leader Ryan Deighton. The heal race began with Deighton throwing his Honda into the lead, with Laddusaw, Tony Bissell and Derik Laddusaw dose behind. Derik Laddusaw slid into third as he passed Bissell on lap two. II would take Nick Ladcrusaw until lap three to make the pass for the lead, powering past Deighton. ewcomer jason Swift made the move into fourth with two laps to go. Deighton kept Nick Laddusaw honest but could not get the top spot back. Nick L"ddusaw took the win, followed by Deighton, Derik Laddusaw and Swift. Nick Laddusaw lined up on the inside of the track, with Deighton alongside, for the 80ce Mini-class main event. Nick Laddusaw launched off the line and into the first turn to grab the holeshot. Deighton was a close second as the field fanned out, each rider looking for an advantage. Tony Bissell took over Il,e third position as Derik Laddusaw, Jason Swift and Robert Thompson battled for fourth. Derik Laddusaw scooted around Bissell for third on lap two. Laddusaw's third-place jaunt only lasled haJf of a lap, as he went down in tum two. Meanwhile, up front, Nick Laddusaw began to power away from Deighton. Tony Bissell, Swift, Thompson and Taylor Bissell were lighting furiously for the third position after Derik Laddusaw's crash relegated him to spectator status. Swift made the move to third, behind Deighton, with two laps remaining. Taylor Bissell got arowld Thompson for fifth, just behind his brother Tony Bissell ick Laddusaw took the checkered flag over a lonely second-placed Deighton. Swift, Tony Bissell and Taylor Bissell rounded out the top five. Deighton stiU holds a six-point lead over the red-hot Nick Laddusaw with two rounds reITh:1.ining. At the wave of the green nag, it was CR25Omounted Gabi Abayou who got the jump on the field from the dead-engiJle start. Ramey tucked in for second place, ahead of Rick Knox, Dino Catuogno and Shy Moshe. Abayou easily put five seconds on Ramey on the opening lap as the YZ400Fmounted Brad Pietro made his way up into fourth. behind Knox, alter suffering a bad start Abayou continued to pulJ slowly away from Ramey, and by the 25-minute mark of the 45minute race, Abayou was enjoying a 15-second cushion on Ram~. Pietro was circulating the track all by himself in third, while Knox and john MacMilJer argued over fourth. Ramey turned up the boost, and within the span of a couple of laps he was knocking on Abayou's back door. With momentum on 'his side, Ramey passed his fellow Honda rider and continued on to earn the victory. Abayou finished second, a good distance ahead of Knox. MacMiller held on for fourth, while Assaf Alush rebounded from a trip over the bars early in the race to round out the top five. Gary Cheek was untouchable in the Junior Vet Intermediate class. The KTM rider took the win by a safe margin over Robbie Dunham and Shane Stanley. John Topor came from a last-place start to run down holeshot a.rtist Steve Norr by lap two and, then disappear for the Senior Amateur-class win on his CRl25. Norr easily took second over the Yamahas of Bob Dunham and Mark Hesse. Ken Slater Sr. led a Kawasaki sweep of the Senior Novice field.
