on the second lap, somebody kind of
cr s-rutted and hit Ezra (Lusk), and
Ezra wasn't able to do this really tricky
ob tade in the back. 1 actually had
already committed and he kind of came
over into me and 1 had to kind of shut
off at the last second. There was nothing
1 could do. It was kind of a step-up, one
of the steepest obstacles on the track.
And when 1 landed quite a bit short, I
tried to dutch it over the top, and it was
sa vertical that I couldn't clutch it over
and the bike stalled. 1 was in one of the
main race lines, so l'm sitting here looking at gefting jumped. on and all that. It
was so steep, 1 obviously couldn't get on
it and crank it on the hill, so.I had to
-walk it down. 1wound up dead last."
At the very back of the pack, contesting fourth through eighth, was Albertyn. The night had taken a bad tum for
Albertyn after he fell ill following his
heat-race win.
"I came off after th,e qualifier - 1
didn't know what was going on," he
said. "I felt kind of sick and just before
the main event, 1 threw up. So 1 don't
know if tha t kind of affected me. There
was a big battle going on right in front
of me, right behind. So anything could
happen."
By the end of the race, Ram ey was
drawing a bead on Albertyn and the
pack in front, but he ran out of time. He
took 10th, one better than Tortelli.
