DeVane divine at Gatorback MX

GAINESVILLE. FL, DEC. 13
More than 320 riders turned out for the fifth
round of the florida State Championship Series,
held at Gatorback Cycle Park. Suzuki pilot Vince
DeVane won the Open/Four-Stroke and 250cc
Pro divisions on his YZ400.
In the first 250cc Pro moto, DeVane grabbed
a monster holeshot to lead the l1-rider field into
the "gator pit" first turn. Kenny Yoho, jarrett
Tipping, james Painton and Keith Seeger trailed
behind. Yoho's bike broke at the completion of
lap one, giving DeVane a huge lead. The runnerup spot was given to Tipping, who had Painton
on his rear fender. Painton slipped by Tipping
with two laps to go. At the checkered flag, it was
DeVane with the easy win over Painton, Tipping, Seeger and Brian Vernes.
DeVane rocketed out of the gate to start
moto two with Marcus Pedrero, Tipping, Yoho
and Painton giving chase.- Tipping and Yoho
motored by Pedrero on lap two as they closed in
on the lead bike of DeVane. DeVane looked to
have the win in the bag until a bobble on the last
lap dropped. him back to iI,ird as Yoho and Tipping raced by. Yoho scored the mota win, but a
DNF in the opening moto cost him the overall.
Tipping held on for second in the mota and in
the overall, while DeVane's third wrapped up
the overalL Painton and Pedrero rounded out
the top five positions.
DeVane later returned to win both motos in
the Open/Four-Stroke class over Paul Sparks
and Dan Sallas.
Pedrero topped the Over 25 and 125cc Pro
classes, winning all four motos. Shane Lusk
posted a lour-mota sweep of the 80 (12-15) and
Supermini divisions over Scott Perry. David
Ellis won the Over 35 and Over 40 classes on his
CR. winning all four motos.
