It now appears as though the Sidecar World Cup will run in conjunction with the World Superbike Series in 1999. SBK International, the promoters of the World Superbike Series, has inked a deal with the International Sidecars Race Association (ISRA) and will host the World Cup in all of its rounds with the exception of the Japanese round on October 10 in Sugo. The sidecar series will also begin using four-stroke 750cc-based engines, beginning in 2000. The Midwest Ice Racing Championship is scheduled for February 6-7 at Lambs Farm in Libertyville, Kentucky, and will feature 1/3 mile and TT classes on both days. The AMA-sanctioned event will host classes from 50cc to Open Pro, with free admission to all spectators. All proceeds from the race will go to Lambs Farm, a home for mentally handicapped adults. The series will consist of six rounds, beginning with the 24 Hours_of Le Mans in France, April 10-11. The rest of the series is as follows; May 3 - Donington Park 8 Hour, England; July 10-11 - 24 Hours of Spa, Belgium; July 25 - Suzuka 8 Hours, Japan; August 14-15 - Osachersleben 24 Hour, Germany; September 11-12 - Bol d'Or, France. In addition to racing a Barney's-backed Yamaha YZ400 in the East Coast FourStroke Series as well as selected AMA Supercross and outdoor Nationals, Vince DeVane will be conducting schools throughout the state of Florida. According to a press release issued by Honda, the Honda Riders Club of America's sixth annual Honda Hoot Rally, scheduled for June 22-26 in Asheville, North Carolina, will feature demo rides on new models from BMW, Buell, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Victory and Yamaha. AMA/Prostar has released its 1999 schedule, with eight events scheduled for the National Series. The series schedule i as follows: February 26-28 Gainesville, Florida; March 27-28 Commerce, Georgia; April 24-25 Columbus, Ohio; June 5-6 - Rockingham, North Carolina; July 9-11 - Chicago, illinois; August 13-15 - Indianapolis, Indiana; September 10-12 - Atco, ew Jersey; November 12-14 - Gainesville, Florida. The 1999 Southern California AMA Championship Motocross Series is slated to kick off at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, May 7-8. The new series will consist of 10 rounds, culinina ting with a round a t the Max Track in Pim, California, on September 5. The ski resort of Park City, Utah, will host four days of AHRMA competition and other motorcycling activities, September 16-19, in the inaugural Park City Motorcycle Week. The event organizer, the Park City Motorcycle Club, has now received all the necessary government approvals, including permission for road racing on a 1.7mile public-roads circuit. The six-round 1999 Toyota Canada Superbike Championship will feature a return to Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, on August 6 after a one-year hiatus from the facility near Halifax. The series schedule is as follows: June 11-13 - Race City Speedway, Calgary, Alberta; July 9-11 - Autodrome St. Eustache - St. Eustache, Quebec; July 23-25 - Mosport International Raceway, Mosport, ontario; August 6-9 - Atlantic Motorsport Park, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia; August 13-15 Circuit St. Felicien, St. Felicien, Quebec; September 3-5 - Shannonville Motorsport Park, Shannonville, Ontario. TravelCraft has announced a trip to Europe that will feature a chance to ride at the Kenny Roberts Training Ranch in Spain and back-to-back Grands Prix in Barcelona, Spain and Assen, Holland. Bub Jones, 84, the founder of Bub's Cycle and Ski near Beckley, West Virginia, was killed in an automobile accident on December 16. Jones started the business nearly 50 years ago with the Indian brand and was an avid racer and hillclimber. The MCD FreeRide Moto X Championship will air on espn2 .on February 10 at 8:30 p.m. (Eastern).
